The poster unveiling will be held on Sunday, Sept. 25 at 2:30 p.m. at Dickens & Co., located at 524 Front St. in the Natchitoches Historic District. The public is invited to attend the unveiling ceremony. This year’s poster was created by Donna North Barron of Pineville, Louisiana. She is married to William Barron and has two sons. Mrs. Barron attended Northeast Louisiana University (ULM), but she did not take any art classes in college. Donna’s mother, Alice North is an artist who painted in oils. When Donna was a child, she would sit for hours and watch her mother paint; however, she did not pick up a paint brush herself until college. Donna now enjoys painting in many different mediums and has designed a collection of Christian angels. She has donated acrylic paintings to the Kidney Foundation for auction as well. The theme for this year’s poster is “Christmas in Natchitoches”. Posters will be on sale for $35 each. Posters from previous years are also available for sale. Proceeds from poster sales help to fund arts programming in the Natchitoches area including an art scholarship to a student at Northwestern State University. After the unveiling ceremony, this year’s poster will be able to be viewed online at the City of Natchitoches’ web site at www.natchitochesla.gov.
