FELLOWSHIP FOR YOU!

The Mary Lou and John Scott Fellowship offers:

Fully paid tuition for NU-TEACH, Northwestern’s 12-month Alternative

Certification Program

A State of Illinois Initial Alternative Secondary or Elementary Teaching

Certificate upon successful completion of the program

Eight units of credit upon completion of the program, which can be applied toward an MS degree in Education and Social Policy at NU if accepted into the MS program

An opportunity to earn a full-time teacher’s salary with benefits while teaching in the Chicago public schools this coming fall

Eligible Candidates

Hold at least a BA or BS degree from an accredited college or university as of June 15,

2005.

Have a minimum GPA of 3.0.

Candidates interested in teaching high school must have a major or at least a substantial concentration of courses in math, science, or computer science. Elementary candidates have a major in one of the humanities, math or science.

 Must register for and pass certification tests administered by the Illinois State Board of

Education (Basic skills test and subject area exams offered January 29. Call for details).

Obligation of Fellowships

Demonstrate a strong commitment to public education

Successfully complete all of the requirements of the NU-TEACH program

Teach in Chicago for a minimum of

2 years
