KSD Social Studies – Information Literacy Unit (Grade 4) Challenges and Conflicts Shaped Washington State Date August 2004 Unit Overview Title Challenges and Conflicts Shaped Washington State Unit Summary The students will examine challenges and conflicts due to early settlement and explain how events in Washington’s past influence the present. Students will view background information on selected challenges in Washington State history. Using the Big 6 information problem solving process, students will research their chosen challenges. Pre-selected websites and print materials will be provided. Students will create and present an informational poster that will be used to compare and contrast information presented by their peers.
