BENJAMIN MUSIC SCHOLARSHIP FUND to honor W.G.S.P.A.S. co-founder Fannie E. Benjamin, renowned Los Angeles organist/musician. Mrs. Benjamin served as President of the Georgia Laster Branch for many years and simultaneously served as a national officer of National Association of Negro Musicians, Inc., (N.A.N.M., INC.) COMPETITION AND ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS The FANNIE E. BENJAMIN SCHOLARSHIP AUDITIONS are open to all persons who meet the requirements. Membership in N.A.N.M., Inc. is not required. REQUIREMENTS 1. Applicants must prepare two selections of differing styles, one of which is by an African American/Black composer: for example, an operatic aria and a spiritual or an art song by a Black composer and a folk song in French, etc. Audition/performance should not exceed ten minutes. 4. VOICE (soprano, mezzo, contralto, tenor, baritone, bass) II. INSTRUMENTAL (orchestral instruments, including piano, organ, harpsichord, classical guitar, harp, marimba) FIRST PRIZE: $ 500.00 SECOND PRIZE: $ 250.00 THIRD PRIZE: $ 150.00 ENCOURAGEMENT AWARD: $100.00 All prizes will be awarded based on judges’ decisions.
