and members of the public and to be sensitive to their differences and needs.

The CAHS is committed to the care and protection of children and young people. Employees must always act in the

local government counsellor. Union membership is voluntary and participation in industrial action is not an offence
under WA legislation.

BRIEF STATEMENT OF DUTIES
The Paediatric ICU Registrar is expected to manage inpatients under the supervision of specialists in the
Intensive Care Unit.
The Paediatric ICU Registrar is expected to manage inpatients under the supervision of specialists in the
Intensive Care Unit.
This post is accredited for FJFICM, FRACP, FACEM and FANZCA training. Staff will endeavour to support
trainees in meeting the specific needs of their training program including formal projects and performance
appraisal.
In the paediatric Intensive Care Unit there will be exposure and involvement in the diagnosis and management
of a variety of disorders and in the post operative care of major surgical problems, including cardiac surgery.
The registrar is expected to be involved in the unit critical incident monitoring program and other audit activities
as appropriate.
The registrar is a member of the Code Blue, Medical Emergency Team and Trauma Team.
Registrars are expected to attend and actively participate in as many Hospital meetings and lectures etc as
possible.

SELECTION CRITERIA
ESSENTIAL MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
1
Qualification in medicine registrable by the Medical Board in Western Australia.
2
Appropriate clinical experience in paediatrics, intensive care, anaesthesia or emergency medicine.

Good interpersonal communication skills.
4
Good professional communication skills.
5
Able to work effectively as a team member.
6
Participation in undergraduate and postgraduate medical teaching of residents, nursing staff and
medical students.
7
Current knowledge of legislative and regulatory requirements in the areas of Equal Opportunity,
Disability Services and Occupational Safety & Health, and how these impact on employment, people
management and service delivery.

APPOINTMENT FACTORS:
Evidence of registration by the Medical Board of Western
Australia must be provided prior to commencement. This position is subject to a
successful Criminal Record Screening Check and a successful Pre- Placement Health
Screening Clearance Check. This position is also subject to a Working With Children
(WWC) Check. This is a compulsory check for people who carry out child-related work in
Western Australia.
