Purpose
The purpose of the Elite 50 is to recognize and reward achievement outside the classroom among our 8,100 graduate and professional

awards for academic accomplishments already exist, the Elite 50 will mainly focus on achievements outside of the classroom.

score will be 75 points. An achievement can only be put in one category, either University Service or Community Benefit.
Recommendation Letter (15 Points)
One recommendation letter is required from a faculty or staff member who has advised, supervised or observed the applicant’s university service or
community benefits activities. The recommendation must be on official letterhead and addresses what added value the applicant contributed to the
campus or community. This recommendation needs to be submitted with a completed application.
University Service (30 Points) –Involvement in activities/organizations that have benefited the IUPUI campus. Accolades awarded to the
student may be listed as well (E.g. scholarships, fellowships, internships, awards, research). Students are limited to 3 experiences during
enrollment as a graduate/professional student at IUPUI.
Community Benefit (30 Points) - Involvement in activities/organizations that have benefited the community at large (local or
internationally) will be the scoring criteria (E.g. student organizations, community service organizations). Students are limited to 3 experiences
during enrollment as a graduate/professional student at IUPUI.
For an activity to be considered for any category (University Service or Campus Benefit) the activity must include at least the following
information:

Name of the organization/activity

Position(s) held within the organization

Events the candidate was involved in with that organization

Contact within the organization for further information

Time within the organization (period of time as well as hours/hours per week)

How the candidate’s experience within the organization relates to university service or community benefit categories (i.e what
was their net benefit). This portion may be no longer than 500 words.
Dinner – All winners will be invited to the Elite 50 Celebration Dinner which takes place on April 13th, 2016 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm in Campus Center
Room 450.
Awards [78 total]
Best in (school) [17] – This award will be given to students who had the highest total score as compared to peers within their academic
school(s).
Elite 50 [50] – This award is given to students whose score ranks in the top fifty of applications submitted.
Premier 10 [10] – This award is given to students whose score ranks in the top ten of applications submitted.
Dr. Charles R. Bantz Award for Excellence [1] – This award is given to the student who achieves the highest
score amongst all applications.
Notes

For the campus/community category, a job/position that a student was involved with prior to becoming a graduate/professional student
will not be calculated. If a student received a new job/promotion or was hired while a graduate/professional student then that will be
considered. Example: This category is not meant to compare a CEO returning to graduate/professional school (using the CEO position for
this category) against a student who is fresh out of their undergraduate program.

Students will be asked to sign a disclosure waiver to make sure that each student is in good standing within their school.

If applicants have questions please refer to the Elite 50 FAQ section on the GPSG website or email Vice President of Programs at
