LEMONADE / ICE TEA MAKING AND SERVICE HOST DIRECTIONS
LATE SPRING / SUMMER / EARLY FALL 1 SERVICE
PLEASE PUT ON YOUR NAME TAG! We all want to know who you are!
REMEMBER, YOU ARE REPRESENTING OUR BUXMONT VALUES. Our Sunday Service is how we “share lifelong
journeys of growth, wonder and healing, nurturing wholeness in society and spirit, creating a community of justice and
compassion”. SO DON’T SWEAT THE SMALL STUFF TOO MUCH, the important thing throughout the morning is to
acknowledge people and BE WELCOMING. Have fun working with your helpers! Serve with grace! THANK YOU!
You will need to bring:
 8 dozen cookies (try to include some sugar-free, and some healthy (like FiberOne snacks)
 2 boxes of graham-type crackers/cookies or Goldfish
 One small bag of ice. You will be reimbursed from the collection basket on the table plus your
reimbursement request from the treasurer.

Make lemonade and ice tea (mixes are in cabinet over the sink) for blue vats, 3 scoops of mix per large glass
pitcher (pitchers are in upper corner cabinet). Make 3 or 4 pitchers / vat). Add ice 10 min before serve.
 Set up 2 long tables side by side in the Social Hall. (Table cloths - closet in the Library/Fireside Room)
 Bring out 2 trash containers with fresh liners into the Social Hall.
 Put out basket for donations to help cover the cost of the donuts (Suggested donation is $1.00)
 Set out cold cups, napkins and small paper plates. Put sugar free drink mixes out in case people want them.
 Put the cookies on trays and on the tables. Cover the cookies with plastic wrap (above the stove) so they won’t go
stale. Leave the wrappers on or near the sugar-free cookies so people know what they are.
 Make two pitchers of cold water and store them in the fridge.
 About 10 minutes prior to the end of the service add the ice to the blue vats and to the pitchers of water, and roll
out the blue vat cart into the social hall. Try to do this during a hymn so noise of carts won’t distract from service.
Bring out the pitchers of ice water. Remove the plastic wrap from the cookies.
 There is a separate committee who will bring the vegetables and dips. You may need to put the veggies on the
tray and take them out to the table, along with some dip in a bowl. Michael Knapp buys cups, napkins, plates, ice
tea and lemonade mix and other supplies regularly.
CLEAN-UP:
 When you think everyone is done (generally 20-30 minutes after the service, roll the carts back. Put away any
extra cups and napkins. If there are any COLD beverages left-over, please find a pitcher, or an empty plastic
"gallon", and save the leftover beverages instead of throwing them away. There are folks (the Adult Discussion
Group, and others) who would appreciate lemonade or iced-tea during the week, and who will dispose of the
unused portion later.
 Rinse out the vats and dry them. Have one sink full of hot soapy water and in the other a pan of hot water with
bleach (under the sink) to sterilize any mugs that were used.
 Return the kitchen to a presentable appearance. Recycle trash appropriately. We recycle all plastics 1 through 7,
cardboard, aluminum, glass and clean paper items.
 Take money from the collection basket to cover what you spent. As of spring 2015, the approximate cost will be
$20-25. If there is not enough in the basket, send a request via email to Elaine Barkan ebarkan@gmail.com Gary
Breen wolverine000@verizon.net and Jerry Johnson revjerry@verizon.net to cover your expenses. You do not
need to fill out a reimbursement form or supply receipts. Please do request a reimbursement – we need to
know how much it costs to feed everyone, so we know what we need to run BuxMont! If there is extra money in
the basket, put it in an envelope (on top of the safe in the Admin’s office), label it “social hour refreshments” and
put it in the safe, using the slot in the top of the safe door.
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR HELPING!
