In this Centre it is our passion to train leaders who will help others to make a
difference where they are: to be, to do and to carry good news within their
contexts.
In purpose of your own ministry development you are kindly invited to our upcoming

All these courses are fully accredited certificate courses. Succesful candidates
receive a certifcate from UP. Persons with the necessary qualifications (like a B
degree in Theology) can offer the Advanced long Courses as academic credits
towards post-graduate studies (an Honours and/or Master’s degree at UP) if they
would prefer to continue with academic studies.
Full professional credits are awarded for pastors who need this in their own
professional environment.

Purpose of the course



To provide course participants with the necessary knowledge and skills to
understand the older person as a member of the community better.
To illustrate the contribution made by and the functioning of the
multidisciplinary team.
To bring together the church, older people in the community, their families
and other volunteers in a team in which relevant service delivery models can
be considered.

YOUTH AT RISK

Purpose of the course:
A skills development course with the emphasis on how to assist the youth that are at
risk due to their circumstances and choices. As these influences could have a major
effect on physical, mental, social and spiritual development of the youth, both
proactive and reactive skills are being taught during the three days.

RADIO MINISTRY

Purpose of the Course:
This course focuses on enabling ministers and theological students to make use of
radio transmission in a communicative and innovative way through knowledge and
appropriate preparation. During this course, participants will be exposed to
alternative ways to spread the gospel over the radio.

CHURCH-BASED COUNSELLING MANAGEMENT

Purpose of course:
To equip participants with skills, knowledge and practical experiences which will
enable them to develop and manage a structured, self-sustainable and
multidisciplinary church-based Counselling Ministry within their local church.
The course is specifically and strategically designed to assist the local church in
utilising the skills, expertise and resources of professionals, lay people, community
service providers, institutions of higher learning and businesses in order to develop a
self-sustainable, easily accessible, professional, volunteer-driven, partner-intensive
and integrated local churched based Counselling Ministry within the local community.

THE WITNESS OF WORSHIP AND PREACHING IN AN AFRICAN CONTEXT

Purpose of the course
This is a brand new product. The previous course focused explicitly on preaching.
Preaching is indeed one of the most important but also most challenging ministries in
the Church. This new course will focus on more. Preaching takes place in worship
services. The purpose of this new course is to train and motivate pastors to
appreciate and understand worship, lead worship and to communicate more
effectively when preaching the Gospel in the Southern African context.
Course Leaders: Dr Nelius Steyn and Prof Cas Wepener. Other Lecturers: Old and
New Testament scholars.

Purpose of the seminar:
We live in a society where so many people are hurt and injured, emotionally,
physically and mentally through sexual abuse (molesting, rape, incest, etc.). The
purpose of this seminar is to equip pastors and counsellors to be able to understand
and support and guide people who have been through sexual abuse, abortion
(miscarriage/stillbirth) or who are addicted to sex or pornography (including cybersex
addiction).
