Learning objectives
Advanced Writing Skills (9105) is offered to Indonesian students, particularly those following the
Double Degree Programmes. Attendance is obligatory. This tailor-made course, in addition to
Academic Writing Skills (9104) facilitates writing practice by focusing further in language acquisition
through studying grammar in context and improving on syntax and sentence structure. By attending
both courses, participants are expected to express themselves effectively.
Course description
The course is designed for Indonesian students and is obligatory for those in the ECD Double Degree
Programme with the University of Indonesia and the AFES Double Degree Programme with the
University of Padjadjaran, but is also open for other students.
The course focuses on tenses, articles, sentence structure, and reading comprehension. All students
need to refer to English Grammar in Use, Murphy, (available in the library). Work assigned must be
completed before every session and a file maintained on work done.
This course is held primarily in Term1 but students who need to work further will continue to work in
small groups in Term 2.
