pages 198-199 of the APA Manual (6th edition).
For success on this assignment, check each of the following items:

Reference list formatting:
___ Citation is double-spaced and has hanging-indent format (APA Manual, p. 180)
___ Typeface is Times New Roman with a 12-point font size (APA Manual, section 8.03, p. 228)
___ Page margins are at least 1 inch (APA Manual, section 8.03, p. 229)
Entry details:
___ Author name is formatted with last name, comma, and initials with periods. Multiple author names
are separated with commas and ampersands. (APA Manual, section 6.27)
___ Publication date is included in parentheses and followed with a period. (APA Manual, section 6.28)
___ Article title is capitalized properly. Only the first word, proper nouns, and first word after a colon
begin with capital letters. No italics. No quotation marks. A period is placed at the end. (APA Manual,
section 6.29)
___ Journal title is italicized and capitalized properly with uppercase and lowercase letters throughout.
Follow with a comma. (APA Manual, section 6.29)
___ Journal volume number is italicized and does not include “Vol.” (APA Manual, section 6.30)
___ Journal issue number is included if journal is paginated separately by issue. Otherwise, page
numbers will suffice. (APA Manual, section 6.30)
___ DOI (digital object identifier) included if available. Search the information about the article carefully
for inclusion of the DOI. Use lowercase “doi” followed by a colon and the identifier. (APA Manual,

___ If no DOI is available, the home page URL of the journal is provided. (APA Manual, section 6.32, p.
191-192)
Additional tips when citing from a journal article found through a database:
“In general, it is not necessary to include database information. Journal coverage in a particular
database may change over time;” APA Manual, section 6.32 (p. 192).
“Do not include retrieval dates unless the source material may change over time (e.g., Wikis). “ APA
Manual, section 6.32 (p. 192).
