Dunwoody Springs Elementary School is committed to the goal of involving our parents in all aspects of
our school wide program. A partnership will be established with parents and the community. Our school
wide program will be communicated to all parents with the expectations that all families will work
together toward our common goals.
The home/school parent liaison will work with parents in an effort to strengthen the bonds between
home and school, parents and educator, parent and child, and school and community.
Type of Parental Involvement
Educational research documents that parental involvement increases the success of students in
academics, social and emotional development. It has been shown that when communication is
continual, varied and involves both classroom content and individual information about students,
parents are more likely to take part in suggested activities. Effective communication between home and
school fosters a cooperative relationship that has positive effects on the student and school. Ongoing
communication will continue between parents, students and the community. Additional provisions will
include but not be limited to the following:




Updating our Parent Resource Center.
Involving Parents in training sessions to help child(en) with curriculum.
Strengthening parent and community involvement through volunteer hours.
Increasing communication between parents and teachers concerning student achievement.
Title I Parent Policy
Dunwoody Springs Elementary School’s parent involvement program is designed to foster learning as a
family unit. Our teachers design innovative programs for our students. We also like to capitalize on
programs designed by parent and community establishments. These parent/community oriented
programs work jointly with faculty members to enhance the educational experience of students at our
school. The Fulton County Board of Education has developed a comprehensive parent involvement
policy that fosters an opportunity for parents and teachers to participate in the design and
implementation of activities for Title I students.
As part of our overall parental efforts, information concerning Title I selection criteria and parent
notification of students ‘progress is provided throughout the year in order to foster ongoing
communication and understanding. Also included are the following:

