The conference will be held October 18-20, 2012 in Orlando, Fl., at the Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress. “Joining FORCEs Against Hereditary Cancer “is the largest gathering by and for the hereditary cancer community, and is for anyone concerned about hereditary cancer: cancer survivors, high-risk individuals, those with a BRCA mutation or family history of cancer, as well as health care providers who treat high-risk patients. The conference offers general sessions and workshops led by world experts on topics ranging from genetic counseling and testing, BRCA mutations, reconstructive surgery and the latest research in the breast and ovarian cancer fields, and many others. Attendees can also learn about standard-of-care and cutting-edge options available for treatment and for lowering their cancer risks. Speakers at this year’s event include Sue Friedman, DVM, FORCE founder and executive director; Victoria Seewaldt, MD, Associate Professor of Medicine and Associate Professor of Pharmacology and Cancer Biology at Duke Comprehensive Cancer Center; Rebecca Sutphen, MD, Professor of Pediatrics and Oncologic Sciences at the University of South Florida College of Medicine, and Chief Medical Officer of Informed Medical Decisions; Judy Garber, MD, Director of the Cancer Risk and Prevention Program at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute; and Susan Domchek, MD, Executive Director of the newly-created Basser Cancer Research Center at University of Pennsylvania and Timothy Rebbeck PhD, lead researcher in the PROSE study which is looking at long-term outcomes in women with BRCA mutations.
