SOUTH AFRICAN BULL TERRIER MAJOR TROPHY SHOW
4 FEBRUARY 2012
CRITIQUE - GEORGIA SCHILLER
I would like to thank the South African Bull Terrier Major Trophy Show Organising Committee for
allowing me the opportunity and privilege of judging this prestigious Competition. Thank you also to
Eukenuba for their generous sponsorship.
Thank you to the MC Martin La Cock and Ring Steward Steve McLean for doing such a professional
job. You were flawless.
It was wonderful to judge alongside well known and very knowledgeable Bull Terrier Judges Mr
Andre Strydom and Mr Frik Fourie, whom have been involved with this Breed for many years.
I am of the opinion that in general, the quality of the Bull Terriers that qualified to take part in this
Show, was very good although I found that the quality of the bitches was superior to that of the
dogs.
Congratulations to all the Breeders and Owners with their Bull Terriers that attended. You are all
winners by having qualified to take part in the biggest and most important Bull Terrier Show of the
Year.
IMPORTED DOGS:
There were no entries for this class.
DOGS UNDER TWO YEARS OLD: (5 DOGS WERE PRESENT)
Judges for this class: A. Strydom and G. Schiller
Winner of this Class: Unanimous decision
NIROUX POSEIDONOS – Bred and owned by Rev. R.L. Sadie – Northern Cape
This dog caught my attention as soon as he entered the ring. He has a strong head and has a very
good expression. Correct scissors bite. His nose is black. Ears placed firmly on top of his head. He
has strong round bone on his legs and has powerful hind quarters and thighs. His back is level with a
slight roach and he has good substance. Very good turn of stifle. Tail set correctly and carried well.
He moved a little close viewed from behind but moved parallel viewed from the front. Watching
him move from the side, he showed strong drive from his hindquarters. He showed very well.
Another Dog under Two which caught my eye with his substance and size of bone was Leotrace Jiro
Yoshi, bred and owned by Mr L.H. van Niekerk.
DOGS OVER TWO YEARS OLD: (9 DOGS WERE PRESENT)
Judges for this class: F. Fourie and G. Schiller
Winner of this Class: Unanimous decision
CH LUBJAN MONCHOU OF RHIZEN R.O.M. – Bred by Past. J.P. Lubbe, Owners: Mr R. Oosthuizen
and Past. J.P. Lubbe – Gauteng
This dog stood out amongst his worthy competitors. He has a very strong head with good fill and
has a keen expression. Teeth correct although one tooth was broken off which is totally excusable at
his age. He has a strong underjaw. His nose is black. Ears placed well on top of his head although a
little soft when on the move and the one is slightly scarred. He has extremely strong round bone on
his legs and has powerful hind quarters and thighs. His back is level with a slight roach. Wide chest.
He was carrying a little extra weight but when I went over him he was as hard as nails. Good turn of
stifle. He stood firmly on his cat like feet. Tail set correctly and carried well. He moved smoothly
both moving away and moving towards. Watching him move from the side, he showed enough
drive from his strong hindquarters. The power of this dog jumped at me every time I looked at him
and he showed to perfection.
Another Dog over Two that caught my eye was Ch. Lubjan Le Patron of Niroux. Bred by Past. J.P.
Lubbe, owned by Rev. S.L. Sadie. He has a mismark on his back and did not have the overall power
of the winning dog.
I also have to mention that the Head of Albrinkos Golden Bele, Bred by Mr A.J. Brink, owned by Ms.
A. Barrell, was an eye catcher. An amazing curve which one does not see very often.
COLOURED DOGS: (2 DOGS WERE PRESENT)
Judges for this class: A. Strydom and F. Fourie
Winner of this Class: Unanimous decision
CH SHODAN CHILLY PEPPER – Bred by Mr B.J. van Niekerk, Owner: Mr B.M. Joubert– Gauteng

Winner of this Class: Split decision between number 18 and number 19.
CROWNJUL APACHE KOOL EYE OF ANMAR – Bred by Mr F. Ebrahim, Owner: Mr A.G. Meaker Western Cape
This bitch has the whole package. Good conformation and is compact. Her head is strong and broad
and has small dark eyes. A keen expression. Ears firmly placed on top of her head. Her nose is slightly
Dudley. Teeth correct scissors bite with strong underjaw. Elegant long neck and level top line with a
slight roach. Nice short back. Very good spring of rib and shows a gentle upward undertuck. She has
strong hindquarters and second thighs and a very good turn of stifle. Her tail is set correctly and
carried well. She moved true both moving away and moving towards and has good drive from the
hindquarters. She showed perfectly.
Another bitch which caught my eye in this class was Leotrace Breathlessmohoney, bred and owned
by Mr L.H. van Niekerk. She has a wide chest, good substance and strong bone.
BITCHES OVER TWO YEARS OLD: (8 BITCHES WERE PRESENT)
Judges for this class: F. Fourie and G. Schiller
Winner of this Class: Unanimous decision
CH REITHSONS CLAREECE – Bred and owned by Mr D.W. Thompson – Western Cape
A very strong Class.
This bitch is an upstanding classy Bull Terrier type bitch. Her head has a gentle curve and enough fill
under the eyes. Teeth correct scissors bite. She has one broken canine. She has a long neck and level
top line with a slight roach. Good spring of rib and a straight front. She has strong hindquarters and
good turn of stifle. Her tail is set a little high. She moved parallel both moving away and moving
towards and has good drive from the hindquarters.
Ch Bellators Bellsareringing of Lubjan, bred by Brig. Gen. N.J. and Mrs W. Du Preez, owned by Past.
J.P. Lubbe and Brig. Gen. Du Preez also got my attention. I was pleased that her main virtues were
noticed further on in the Competition being the winner of the Best Head and Best Mover.
COLOURED BITCHES: (3 BITCHES WERE PRESENT)
Judges for this class: A. Strydom and F. Fourie
Winner of this Class: Unanimous decision
CHRISMARNIC MANTA – Bred by Mr C.J. Kleynhans, Owner: Mrs T.A. Venter - Western Cape
DOG OF THE YEAR:
Judges for this class: A. Strydom and G. Schiller
Winner of this Class: Unanimous decision
CH LUBJAN MONCHOU OF RHIZEN R.O.M. – Bred by Past. J.P. Lubbe, Owners: Mr R. Oosthuizen
and Past. J.P. Lubbe – Gauteng
Both Dogs, worthy winners of their respective classes, but being up against each other in this Class,
Ch. Lubjan Monchou of Rhizen R.O.M. had a comfortable edge with the strength and power which
he possesses.
BITCH OF THE YEAR:
Judges for this class: F. Fourie and G. Schiller (Referee: A. Strydom)
Winner of this Class: Split decision between number 18 and number 29
CH REITHSONS CLAREECE – Bred and owned by Mr D.W. Thompson – Western Cape
My choice was Crownjul Apache Kool Eye Anmar. I thought that she was more compact and has
slightly more virtues than Ch. Reithsons Clareece.
SUPREME BULL TERRIER OF SOUTHERN AFRICA 2011:
Judges for this class: A. Strydom, F. Fourie and G. Schiller
Winner of this Class:
CH REITHSONS CLAREECE – Bred and owned by Mr D.W. Thompson – Western Cape
Strong competition but my choice was Ch. Lubjan Monchou of Rhizen R.O.M. To me he has the
virtues, together with the power that Supremes are made of.
BEST COLOURED BULL TERRIER:
Judges for this class: A. Strydom and F. Fourie
Winner of this Class: Unanimous decision
CH SHODAN CHILLY PEPPER – Bred by Mr B.J. van Niekerk, Owner, Mr B.M. Joubert – Gauteng
BEST HEAD:
Judges for this class: F. Fourie and G. Schiller (Referee: A. Strydom)
Winner of this Class: Split decision between number 23 and number 16.
CH BELLATORS BELLSARERINGING OF LUBJAN – Bred by Brig. Gen. N.J. and Mrs W. Du Preez,
Owners: Past. J.P. Lubbe and Brig. Gen. Du Preez – Limpopo
My choice was Ch. Bellators Bellsareringing of Lubjan. In this Class her Head stood out above the
rest even with her teeth which are not quite correct. Her head is egg shaped with a broad muzzle
and strong underjaw. It is well filled under the eyes, and she has a very keen expression.
BEST MOVER:
Judges for this class: A. Strydom and F. Fourie (Referee: G. Schiller)
Winner of this Class: Split decision between number 23 and number 28.
CH BELLATORS BELLSARERINGING OF LUBJAN – Bred by Brig. Gen. N.J. and Mrs W. Du Preez,
Owners: Past. J.P. Lubbe and Brig. Gen. Du Preez – Limpopo
My choice was Ch. Bellators Bellsareringing of Lubjan. She moved smoothly and parallel both
moving away and moving forward and had strong drive coming from the hindquarters.
Her competitor moved parallel moving away and forward but lacked the drive which my winner had.
May I commend Mrs Vilia Herbst on the way that she moved this bitch, it was very well done.
Thank you again for allowing me to judge your precious Bull Terriers and I wish you all everything
of the best in the Show Ring during the year.
