Dear Students and Parents,
Welcome back to school! I am very excited to be your teacher this year. This will be an exciting year as we
embark on the historical journey of the United States, starting with American expansion west and concluding with
present day. This will be accomplished using a variety of tools and media as students learn to interpret primary
source documents, analyze the relationship between history and geography, make comparisons to current events,
and create meaningful reflections.
Please review the information below with your child so we can take the first step toward a successful year
together!

Grading:
All work counts! Homework, class projects, unit tests, and quizzes will all count toward the quarterly grade.
Grades will be calculated using a point system. For instance, homework will have a value of 5 points for each
assignment and tests will have a value of 100 points. Homework will be accepted late; however, late work will
not receive full credit. If a student misses class for an excused absence, he or she will be able to submit the
assignment within two days after returning to class for full credit.
Academic Integrity:
Plagiarism will not be tolerated. Cheating will not be tolerated. Please refer to the handbook regarding the
consequences and procedures used when an academic integrity violation has occurred.
Extra Help:
Students may walk in any day for extra help, however, there will be occasions when I must attend meetings, so it
is best to make the appointment in advance.
