Monday: April 13, 2015
Morning Circle: We will be singing our good morning greeting song, adding the day to our
calendar, talk about our daily weather and complete attendance check-in. Each child will be
given the opportunity to spell their name and put their name on the Check-In board, then they
will be asked to show me a specific shape or color, and finally they will be given an opportunity
to jump while we clap and sing for them.

Book: “The Fire Engine Book”- By Jesse Younger
Small Group Circle Time: Today we will read “The Fire Engine Book” By Jesse Younger. “The
Fire Engine Book” is the story of brave fire fighters and their life at the station.
COR: 5: Q, R, S, T, & U
Extension Activity: Art: Shape Fire Truck
The children will be given a red rectangle, a red square, a gray square, and two small black
circles. They will glue these shapes together to create a fire truck. Two popsicle sticks will be
glued to the side of the firetruck to be the ladder.

Music and Movement:

Recall: This is a large group setting where we will be answering a question or commenting on
something related to the day’s activities. Today’s question or comment will be open ended
questions regarding what the children remember from the book or activity.

The children will be given an opportunity to see a number sequence and then see a similar image
with some of the numbers missing so they may tell me what number is missing.

Recall: This is a large group setting where we will be answering a question or commenting on
something related to the day’s activities. Today’s question/comment will be Who, What, When,

Book: “A Day in the Life of a Police Officer” – By Linda Hayward
Small Group Circle Time: Today we will read “A Day in the Life of a Police Officer” By Linda
Hayward. It’s a detailed story of the duties and responsibilities of law enforcement. This book
is full of vocabulary.

Extension Activity: Art –
The teacher will precut the paper plate. The children will be asked to color the car blue. They
will then be given two black circles for the wheels, a yellow star, two white squares for the
windows, and one small red square for the emergency light.

Recall: This is a large group setting where we will be answering a question or commenting on
something related to the day’s activities. Today’s question or comment will be testing the

Cooking: Fire Ladder Cookies:
Small Group Circle Time: We will look at each item, taste it and guess what we think it is
called. We are going to make Fire Ladder Cookies. The children will be given 1 full graham
cracker, peanut butter so rub onto the cracker, and small pretzel sticks to place horizontally
and vertically to make a ladder.
