Center for European Economic Research (ZEW) – Visiting Researchers Program
Brief Description: The center offers the opportunity for individuals to actively participate in research
work at ZEW. In close cooperation with center staff, visiting researchers conduct research and
contribute to publications. In addition to the project work, the research stay aims at exchanging
experience and information on scientific level. The center’s key objectives are to conduct excellent
economic research, to provide scientifically grounded economic policy advice, to train talented
researchers, and to inform the professional and the lay public. The center’s research addresses the
following areas: 1) International Finance and Financial Management, 2) Labour Markets, Human
Resources and Social Policy, 3) Industrial Economics and International Management, 4) Corporate
Taxation and Public Finance, 5) Environmental and Resource Economics, Environmental Management,
6) Information and Communication Technologies, 7) Growth and Business Cycles, and 8)Competition
and Regulation. The center has achieved a strong reputation particularly by tackling internationally
comparative research questions in the European context and by maintaining important scientific
databases such as the ZEW Start-up Panel, the Mannheim Innovation Panel (MIP) and the European

Cultural Vistas - Robert Bosch Foundation Fellowship Program
Brief Description: The Program is a transatlantic initiative that offers individuals the opportunity to
complete a comprehensive professional development program in Germany. The Fellowship is
comprised of three main components: customized work placements, professional seminars, and
German language training. Fellows work as consultants in their field of expertise at leading public or
private institutions in Germany. In addition, Fellows participate in professional seminars, where they
travel to meet and exchange ideas with key figures across Germany and Europe. Prior to their work
placements and seminars, Bosch Fellows participate in language training with both private tutors in the
United States and group classes in Germany. Fellows are from the fields of business administration,
cultural management (ex. museum, theater, orchestra), journalism, law, non-profit, public policy, and
urban planning.

Newberry Library - Long Term Fellowship
Brief Description: Several long term fellowships are available through the Library. These are: 1)
ACLS/Frederick Burkhardt Residential Fellowships for Recently Tenured Scholars, 2) ACM/GLCA Faculty
Fellowships, 3) École Nationale des Chartes Exchange Fellowship, 4) Lloyd Lewis Fellowship in American

the Newberry’s scholarly activities, including fellows’ seminars and a weekly colloquium. The Library is
an independent research library dedicated to the advancement and dissemination of knowledge,
especially in the humanities. The acquires and preserves a broad array of special collections research
materials relating to the civilizations of Europe and the Americas. It promotes and provides for their
effective use, fostering research, teaching, publication, and life-long learning, as well as civic

Princeton University – Davis Center for Historical Studies – Research Fellowships
Brief Description: During the academic year 2015/16, the Center will take as its theme "In the
aftermath of catastrophe." What happens in the wake of cataclysmic experiences: war, civil war,
genocide, imperial collapse, natural disaster? The aim in part is to understand processes of
reconstruction but not only that. How was the experience of catastrophe remembered and
memorialized; how was trauma conceived and dealt with; how was the post-catastrophic present
understood in relation to the pre-disaster past? As always, we hope to address these questions from a
wide variety of periods and places, from prehistory to the present and from all parts of the world.
Fellowships may run either for one semester or for the full academic year. The Center is normally able
to offer only one semester of support, but welcomes the residence of year-long Fellows who combine
Center support with funds from elsewhere. Applicants are encouraged to apply for external funds or
sabbatical support before applying for a year long residence.

Rutgers, State University of New Jersey - Beyster Graduate Fellowship
Brief Description: Fellowships are awarded to outstanding PhD candidates or postdoctoral scholars in
the areas of economics, history, management, business and labor relations, law, philosophy,
psychology, political science, public policy, and sociology studying employee ownership and related
ideas such as profit sharing and broad-based stock options in the corporation and society in the US The
fellowships permit the students to associate with several scholars engaged in this area of research at
Rutgers and receive mentoring and support. The funds can be used to support full-time study at
Rutgers University or research and travel expenses for graduate students at other universities.

University of Cambridge – Stipendiary Junior Research Fellowship
Brief Description: This stipendiary JRF is open to those whose research is in one or more of the
following subject areas: Anglo-Saxon, Norse and Celtic, Anthropology, Archaeology, Classics,
Economics, English, Geography, Law, Philosophy, or Politics, Sociology or International Studies.
Candidates are advised that a JRF is intended for a researcher early in their career and offers an
opportunity to carry out novel research in a stimulating academic environment. The holder must carry
out the research within the university unless the Governing Body is satisfied that he or she is better
able to carry out the research elsewhere. However the Governing Body may permit a Research Fellow
to intermit the tenure of the Fellowship for the purpose of pursuing research outside of Cambridge not
take longer than two years.

Virginia Historical Society – Research Fellowships
Brief Description: There are three general categories of fellowships: 1) Andrew W. Mellon Research
Fellowships cover the broad sweep of Virginia and American history, for example, supporting research
on political, constitutional, religious, African American, military, and social issues, 2) The Betty Sams
Christian Fellowships in business history cover studies in economic history, trade, industrial and
commercial subjects, and labor relations, and 3) The Frances Lewis Fellowships in Gender and
Women's Studies support work in gender roles and the history of women. Applicants should note that
the selection committee will determine the category of the applicant's award. The VHS expects
recipients to work on a regular basis in its reading room during the period of their fellowships. The VHS

American Council of Learned Societies (ACLS) – Mellon/ACLS Dissertation Completion Fellowship
Brief Description: The fellowship support a year of research and writing to help advanced graduate
students in the humanities and related social sciences in the last year of PhD dissertation writing.
Applicants must be prepared to complete their dissertations within the period of their fellowship
tenure and no later than August 31, 2016. The fellowship tenure may be carried out in residence at the
fellow's home institution, abroad, or at another appropriate site for the research. These fellowships
may not be held concurrently with any other fellowship or grant. Scholars asked to review applications

American Institute of Iranian Studies (AIIrS) - Short-Term Senior Fellowships in Iranian Studies
Brief Description: AIIrS offers short-term senior fellowships for research travel to Iran but will also

Archaeological Institute of America (AIA) - Harriet and Leon Pomerance Fellowship
Brief Description: The fellowship is to support an individual project of a scholarly nature that is related
to Aegean Bronze Age archaeology. AIA fellowship funds may not be used for institutional overhead,
institutional administrative recovery costs, or institutional indirect costs. At the conclusion of the
fellowship tenure, the recipient must submit a report on the use of the stipend to the Chair of the AIA
Fellowships Committee. Fellowship funds may not be used for institutional overhead, institutional

Council for International Exchange of Scholars (CIES) - Occasional Lecturer Fund
Brief Description: CIES provides travel awards through the Occasional Lecturer Fund, which enable
Fulbright Visiting Scholars who are currently in the U.S. to accept guest lecturing invitations at colleges
and universities. The Fund enables Visiting Scholars to: Share their specific research interests; Speak on

Economic Development Administration (EDA) - FY 2014 Economic Development Assistance Programs
Brief Description: EDA solicits applications from applicants in rural and urban areas to provide
investments that support construction, non-construction, technical assistance, and revolving loan fund
projects under EDA's Public Works and Economic Adjustment Assistance programs. Grants and
cooperative agreements made under these programs are designed to leverage existing regional assets
and support the implementation of economic development strategies that advance new ideas and
creative approaches to advance economic prosperity in distressed communities. EDA provides strategic

Freie Universität Berlin - Program for Advanced German and European Studies
Brief Description: The program promotes a new generation of young North American scholars with
specialized knowledge of modern and contemporary Germany and Europe. The program supports

Brief Description: The Leo Baeck Institute (LBI) is a research, study, and lecture center whose library
and archives offer comprehensive documentation for the study of the history and culture of Germanspeaking Jewry. Fellowships are awarded for research in New York or Germany on the social,

Hagley Museum and Library – Henry Belin du Pont Dissertation Fellowship
Brief Description: We invite applications from Ph.D. candidates whose research on important historical
questions would benefit from use of Hagley's research collections. Applications should demonstrate
superior intellectual quality, present a persuasive methodology for the project, and show that there
are significant research materials at Hagley pertinent to the dissertation. Use of Hagley's collections
may take place prior to application for the dissertation fellowship. Potential applicants are strongly

Institute for Advanced Study – School of Social Science – Visiting Scholars Program
Brief Description: Memberships are awarded at both the junior and senior levels and for the full
academic year only. Members are expected only to pursue their own research and participate in the
weekly seminar. The School is not wedded to any particular intellectual or disciplinary approach. While
there is an organizing theme each year, each class of accepted fellows includes some who represent
that thematic focus and others who do not. For 2015-2016, the theme will be "Borders and
Barriers." Each year, about one-third of the scholars will pursue work relating to the theme, which

The Library Company of Philadelphia – Program in Early American Economy and Society One-Month
Fellowship
Brief Description: The program invites applications for three types of fellowship awards during 20152016. These research fellowships are designed to promote scholarship in early American economy and
society, broadly defined, from its colonial beginnings to the 1850s. Possible research topics include
Atlantic and global connections of the American economy; its commerce, business, technology,
manufacturing, agriculture, internal development, or political economy; the history of race and the
economy, capitalism, households, or gendered economies. All fellows are expected to be resident in
Philadelphia and conduct research in the area for the duration of awards. Applicants for the postdoctoral and dissertation fellowships may submit proposals based not only on the extensive collections
at the Library Company, but also on the printed and manuscript materials of other institutions in the
Philadelphia area. Short-term fellows should spend a continuous month of research in the collections
of the Library Company.

NEH – Fellowship for Senior Scholars
Brief Description: The award supports original research at the Center in the humanities, including but
not limited to Jewish studies, Russian and East European studies, American studies and Germanic
studies, as well as musicology, linguistics, anthropology, sociology and history. Applications are
welcome from college and university faculty in any field who have completed a PhD more than six
years prior to the start of the fellowship and whose research will benefit considerably from
consultation with materials in the collections of the Center's partners - American Jewish Historical
Society, American Sephardi Federation, Leo Baeck Institute, Yeshiva University Museum, and YIVO
Institute for Jewish Research. Fellows are expected to conduct original research at the Center, deliver
at least one lecture based on the research conducted, actively participate in the scholarly community
at the Center, acknowledge the Center and NEH in all publications resulting from research completed
during the fellowship, and submit a report upon completion of the fellowship describing the
experience.

United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) - RONA's Internship Programme
Brief Description: The UNEP is located in the heart of downtown Washington DC and has been
welcoming interns for more than five years and offers programmes in the following areas:
Communications, Government Affairs, Environment Research, Environment Policy, Ecosystems
Management and the Scientific Technical Advisory Panel (STAP)/Global Environment Facility (GEF). It is
the goal of the UNEP to ensure that each intern has a challenging and fulfilling experience while
working at UNEP. As a result, supervisors assign interesting and challenging projects based upon the
intern's background, experience, interest and skills. Interns work very closely with staff on current and
diverse topics to help accomplish UNEP's mission. The UN Internship Programme operates on a nonremunerative basis. All costs connected with internships must be borne by the interns or their
sponsoring institutions or governments, including travel and transportation, living and
accommodation. Internships are expected to be full-time and range from a minimum of three to a
maximum of six months.
