Alternate Assessment/DLM 2013-2014
Timeline for Teachers giving the Alternate Assessment/DLM
(Please put these on your calendar)
Nov. 6th – REQUIRED training for all staff members who will be
administering the DLM and Alternate Assessment. Complete
DLM training modules 1, 2, 3, and 7.
Dec. 1st – If you are giving an Alternate Assessment in Science,
the indicators that you select have to be submitted to Lisa
Arndt or Miles Harvey by this date. Request that your building
test coordinator upload students to the KIDS site as taking an
alternate assessment.
Dec. 15th – IEPs amended or changed to show the appropriate
state assessment for spring of 2014. Complete all DLM training
modules. Register students on CETE.
Dec. 31st – State deadline for selecting and entering the
selected Science indicators for the Alternate Assessment.
Jan. 15-31 – DLM Field Test #1 (15 ELA items and 15 math
items)
March 17-April 11 – DLM Field Test #2 (TBA)
May 1 – End of Academic Year – DLM Field Test #3 (TBA)

To Do / Checklist for the Alternate Assessment/DLM
 Determine eligibility for DLM/Alternate – Watch the DLM module
titled “Who are Students with Significant Cognitive Disabilities”

 If you have eligible students – watch the DLM modules found at
http://dynamiclearningmaps.org/unc/modules.html
 Attend DLM/Alternate Assessment training on Nov. 6th at
Haverhill
 Register Students taking the Alternate Assessment on the CETE
site. Request that your building test coordinator upload students
to the KIDS system as taking an Alternate Assessment.
 Change the IEP at the annual IEP meeting or amend the IEP to
show participation in the Alternate Assessment/DLM prior to Dec.
15th
 For students in grades 4,7, and 11 – submit science indicators to
COOP administration by Dec. 1st.
 Enter Science indicators to the state/CETE by Dec. 31st
 Participate in DLM Field Test #1
 Participate in DLM Field Test #2
 Participate in DLM Field Test #3
 Administer Kansas Alternate Science Portfolio Assessment
