Post-Doctoral Associate opening(s) in experimental crystal growth, at Illinois Institute of Technology (Prof. A. Ostrogorsky’s Lab.). Applicants should have a background in one or preferably several of the following: bulk crystal growth, Czochralski process, Top Seeded Solution Growth, and should be familiar with, furnaces, vacuum equipment, induction power supplies, PID control, etc. Key Duties & Responsibilities include: (i) to grow single crystals as need for the current project. (ii) Keep the lab functional, well organized, well supplied, and safe. (iii) Write progress reports and papers. Candidates should be capable of working independently or with others, leading a small team of students, and preferably have a strong record of publication. Research projects are focused on producing crystals having high purity and perfection for nuclear detector application.
