Dear Parents,
TOWN ANZAC SERVICE
Each year students from our school are invited to participate in the town ANZAC
Service. If you would like your child to take part please have them meet at the
corner of Gaskill and Ryall Streets at 10.30 am. Staff members will be there to
organise them. They need to be in winter school uniform. Our Captains and
Prefects will lay a wreath on behalf of the school.
We are again fortunate enough this year to have free concert by an ensemble from
the Sydney Conservatorium of Music. The group will be performing at our school
next Monday, 30th April in the school hall. The concert will go for about an hour,
followed by workshops for our band members.
Eric Toole,
Principal.

SCHOOL CROSS COUNTRY
Our school cross country has been set for this Friday 27th April. Permission notes were sent home last
term. If another note comes home with your child / children today it means we do not have a
permission note / barbecue order form for them. Please make sure you return your child / children’s
lunch order and permission note to enable us to complete organisation by Thursday.
The Infants students are also having a mini cross country here at school on Friday and will be having a
barbecue lunch afterwards. If we do not have an order for the barbecue a new note is being sent home
today. Please return it by Thursday.

be in team kits Saturday, too. Help them get it right by showing them and giving him or her another go, at least early
in the season. Rod Hayes will be organising a training afternoon for the whole of this age group and would

Canowindra Junior Soccer teams- please check the Cowra junior soccer website

Trainings- 14’s both teams as a squad each Wed at oval 4.30pm (this week will be Thurs!)
all other age groups- coaches and trainings yet to be determined by parents.
Ages 8’s and up will get socks
In the past we have had a publicity officer who has written up reports for the local newspaper for all the
Canowindra teams. With every one so busy these days it has become nearly impossible to do this. It would
be great if a parent from each team could take responsibility for writing up a report and emailing it to the
Cowra Guardian for the Canowindra News each Week
We already have a group of parents who attend the regular meetings Cowra but more are always welcome
to come along and have some input. Remember in the competitive age groups- this also earns your team
points
Representative soccer- Many Canowindra players have been involved in the Cowra Representative and
Youth League sides. Notices are often on the website or the board at Saturday soccer or if you are

interested talk to Kath Balcombe or Bruce Austin and we may be able to steer you in the appropriate
direction
Something else to think about- Kath will be handing over the reigns as Canowindra registration officer next
year but will help out to start with. We need interested parents , particularly those with children in the
middle and younger age groups, to assist with registration and team organization. Registration is bound to
get easier with more on-line registrations next year.
