Peace Poster Deadline

Subject: Peace Poster / Essay Contest
Greetings All District PP Chairs,
Please ensure that your Clubs are aware that 15TH NOVEMBER is the postmark deadline
for a Club to send one winning poster (per contest sponsored or Kit dispatched)
to their District Governor, unless the District judging was held at the their Convention.
Due to the large number of District winning Posters which were disqualified at the National
level of the judging last year, I would like to remind you that it is part of
your role, as the Peace Poster Contest Chair to assist your D G when judging the PP Contest,
by advising your District Governor with the Contest rules.
In particular: A. “Winner sticker” must be attached by the Club on the BACK LOWER
RIGHT HAND SIDE of the poster.
Please refer to “Getting Started – for Club use” Criteria No.8 – If this
is not done at Club level, poster cannot go forward for judging at District level
B.
Quote on Peace must be written by the student on the “Winner
sticker”
The Winner Sticker allows only 3 lines for the “Student’s Quote on
Peace…………………
C. Winner Sticker requires a Quote on Peace not an explanation of the
student’s artwork.
Please also note “Contest Rules and Conditions” where Point 8 reads:
“ …………. Nothing may be glued, stapled or attached to the artwork
in any way”
Therefore where a student attaches or encloses an extra sheet of paper
explaining their
artwork, not a “quote on peace”, the poster must be disqualified at
Club level first.
Criteria No. 6 (2nd and 3rd paragraphs) If this is not included at Club
level, poster cannot go forward for judging at District level).
D. The winning entry (one per Kit) must be signed off by the parent or
guardian. Not the classroom teacher or school Principal.
E
Please advise your District Governor with details for poster
measurements.
F. District winning entry must be signed off by the District Governor.
Unfortunately due to pressure of time etc. the DG often
overlooks this very important signature.
I hope this helps when judging the District Winning entry, as well as reducing the
number of disqualifications at National level.
Yours in Lionism
