Due to safety reasons, parents and coaches who are driving to the meet in their own vehicles are asked to
park their cars in the parking lot at Hernewood Junior High. You will have about a one minute walk to the
site. Students and coaches coming by bus will be allowed to enter and park in the designated area. We will
have adults at the gate to direct traffic. Please advise parents ahead of time and ask them to please respect
this request. I have included a congratulation letter to give to all the parents of students attending the
Provincial Cross Country Championship with information concerning all the races.
We will be using our computer program to tally the results and we need your help in getting the correct unit
results to us. Please check your unit results. Just a note that all many Minor Hockeys will be starting
their programs around this time so you might want to get a commitment from your runners before
they participate in your zone championship.
All runners will have to be registered ahead of time. All meet managers are to have their Zone
Championship and results sent to cross country commissioner before the registration deadline of
Friday, October 9th. Coaches are not to send unit results. Your meet manager will do this for you.
Schools, if you have any changes to your own team, you must let me know before Wednesday, October
14th you can e-mail to pjgoguen@edu.pe.ca. No new changes will be made after this date.
To contact me, call after 3:00 at 882-7358. Please make sure you have a commitment from your students
before they qualify at your zone championship.
Your Unit Rep. will be in contact with you to insure that every athlete competing has an onsite school
representative. This can be your cross country coach, a teacher, or a parent. Your onsite rep. will have to
register your school before receiving their registration package. No athletes will be permitted to run
without a responsible on site representative from your school. PEISAA rule.
We will have a corral at the starting line where athletes and coaches are to wait for the next race. Our
starting line officials will line up all runners 5 minutes before each race. Please ask parents to stay away
from this area.
A complete set of results will be sent to the SAA and will be posted on the PEISAA Web Site. Results will
also be posted at the site.
A hospitality room will be set up at the gazebo where we will be having a coaches meeting at 10:00 a.m.
sharp for the morning runs and 12:00 for the afternoon runs. All coaches are asked to be there on time as
important information will be given out. I am also enclosing a letter of congratulation to parents that will
explain the competition, viewing area and schedule. Could you please send this home with the students
attending provincial?
School with many students not attending provincial championship could face a fine from the SAA.
Please get a commitment from your students before sending their names to get registered at our
championship.
If you have any concerns or questions, please call me at school ~ 882-7358.
Thank you,
Paul Goguen

class in each zone qualify for these championships. The top 5 teams in each zone may enter 7 runners per
age class in these championships.
Scoring: All entries in each race will be counted, including those not competing with a team. The top 5
finishers from each team will count for team score. If two schools finish with the same amount of points for
provincial team award, both team will be awarded a provincial plaque.
Awards: The top 3 finishers in each class will receive medals and 4-10 will receive ribbons. The winning
