MIT ACADEMY’S DAILY BULLETIN Tuesday, January 26, 2016 Good Morning MIT Academy! Please stand for the Pledge of Allegiance. I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. 1st Semester Honor Roll Shatters Records! Students, the results are in for the first semester honor roll, and you CRUSHED it! In fact, MIT students set a new MIT record with 63% of all students on the honor roll, led by a terrific performance at the high school where 49 students finished the first semester with a 4.0 or higher GPA! Moreover, the middle schoolers did a great job too, with over 60% finishing with a 3.0 GPA or higher. Honor roll assemblies will be held in a couple of weeks, but we’ll celebrate early this Friday with a free dress day with NO dress pass required! So keep listening to the bulletin, and keep up the great work! POETRY SLAM: If you’ve been looking for that one chance to prove that you have the strongest word game, then MIT Academy Senior’s Poetry Slam competition is for you! The competition will be held February 19th. All you have to do before then is write your name, your advisory teacher’s name and Attention: Laura Castro on an envelope with 4 of your best poems enclosed. Turn these in to Ms. Powers, Ms. Saldana, or Mr. Lum by February 5th and tell your friends and family to come watch you wipe the floor with your words. There will be a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd prize winner, as well as fun raffle prizes for attendees. COLLEGE CLASSES: CIS 61 –Website Design has started! The class is on Mondays and Wednesdays from 4-5:30. If you want to sign-up for this class, please go see Mr. Katz, in room J, as soon as possible. DEBATE CLU: Debate Club meeting today, after school from 4-5 in room O-2. DRIVER’S ED: If you are interested in taking Driver’s ED please stop by the ASP office and sign up with Ms. Birkeland. Driver’s Ed will take place Wednesday and Fridays from 4-6 pm with Ms. Gonzalez in room EV1. This class starts this Wednesday the 27th. KEY CLUB: Today’s Key Club meeting today at lunch in room V. ECO-CREW: Eco-Crew meets every day in Ms. Perry’s classroom, room V afterschool from 3:45-4:15.
