Julie will contact Charles, Andy & Jill Peters and Liz & Roger Pescod to see if any are able to assist with Laser 4.7 on 27th/28th June. 2.3 We also have a new 2.4mR Open meeting scheduled for 18th/19th July. This was originally just training but now has a high profile sailor participating. Paul anticipates only needing an RO and SB. Andrew agreed to cover this as the Hansa Open has been cancelled. 2.4 Dutyman has cover for dates into May at the moment. We need Race Officers and AROs to commit to dates further ahead. Julie to put an email out to get long term commitment for 1 Wednesday and 3 Sundays up to the end of September. 3. Laser Radial scoring Despite new signing on sheets, a newsletter and Facebook notification 2 sailors had to be disqualified last week for sailing 4.7s in the Laser start in the Spring Series. Julie spoke to those concerned on the day but we have subsequently had an email from Sue Grylls on the matter. The Sailing committee remains firm in its decision on the matter and Bob will have a chat with Sue directly on the matter rather than reply to the email. Julie to remind Race Officers when emailing out to ignore Laser 4.7s finishing if they have started in the wrong fleet and to get on with starting the next race. 4. Open Meetings 4.1 Andrew is taking the lead for the Zone Champs and a meeting has been organised with Paul Wren for Wednesday 29th April. 4.2 RS200 Open/ RS400 Coaching on Saturday 9th May. We have a professional at the club using a drone and providing free video recording with no cost or impact to the club on this day. We should ensure that we place a note on the official noticeboard informing participants that there is an “authorised” drone in operation on the site. Julie to add this to the Open Meeting checklist. 4.3 2016 Open Meeting requests: Laser 4.7 Winter Champs has been confirmed for 30th/31st January 2016. They will be including Radial and full rigs in next year’s event and anticipate approx. 90 boats. Laser Masters Inland Championships: We have a request to host this event at QM next April. It has been at Grafham for the past few years but they would like to bring it further south. Potentially 70-80 boats, a mix of Radial and full rig. This is agreed in principle for 9th/10th April 2016 subject to Royal Thames confirmation that they are not here that weekend. Julie to discuss pricing and prizes with UKLA. Post meeting: Royal Thames is not here that weekend so the event is confirmed for 9th/10th April. I explained that our charge is £30 per boat for the weekend and we will not be required to supply prizes. These will be brought with them on the day. Entry is by online pre entry/ pre pay as far as possible and the entry list will be provided in an Excel spreadsheet. 4.4 London Youth Games 2016 See Appendix below 5. AOB 5.1 The breakdown of boats in the dinghy park was very well received and it is interesting that Lasers, RS400s and Moths make up most of the dingy park. (Laser)2000s are poorly represented and Julie should remove their fleet section from the website. 5.2 Additional events planned for 2015: Sunday 17th May Push The Boat Out Plan is to encourage as many fleets/ sailors onto the water that day. Julie has already contacted all Class/ Youth captains to push involvement. Saturday 4th July QM Family Day Members to invite family and friends for a fun day on the water- SUP, sailing, windsurfing tasters, RIB rides and activities ashore. Caroline is leading the event. 5.3 Merry Fisher There is a switch in Merry Fisher that needs to be turned on to make the hooter work properly. The white switch needs to be pressed, then the top of the 3 buttons below should be pressed to provide battery power to make the horn (white switch) work properly. Julie to include this information in the RO email. The roof frame is broken and this should be reported to Tony to ensure it is dealt with appropriately and mended. 5.4 The current dredger exclusion buoys are currently quite close in and closely resemble our buoys. Members should be reminded via the next newsletter (Tony) to keep clear of the area. Next Meeting: Thursday 8th October 2015
