DIRECTOR’S STATEMENT: Newbox Sdn. Bhd. are committed to the ten principles of the UN Global compact and will continue to implement practical actions in order to make further progress in 2013. TAY MING HUI Managing Director A) Human Rights A1) Assessment, policy and goals Description of the relevance of human rights for the company (i.e. human rights risk-assessment). Description of policies, public commitments and company goals on Human Rights. Newbox is strong support to Human Right principle and adhered to Universal Declaration of Human Right. A2) Implementation Description of concrete actions to implement Human Rights policies, address Human Rights risks and respond to Human Rights violations. Our company is adhered to Malaysia Labour Law. Fist aid training was conduct on Jun 2013 cover all the department. In Jun 2013, Newbox Employee Handbook was introduce to the worker. Under this handbook, details such as employment condition, salary administration and other benefits are clearly stated. Fire drill was conducted at factory and hostels. All hostels are equipped with a first aid kits, fire extinguisher, smoke detector, emergency torch light and whistle. Employee Handbook A3) Measurement of outcomes Description of how the company monitors and evaluates performance. Management will review human right adherence periodically and meet with employee representatives every month to discuss any work related issue including huaman right issue. Employee feels happier to work at Newbox as their right was protected under the Employee Handbook. B) Labour B1) Assessment, policy and goals Description of the relevance of labour rights for the company (i.e. labour rights-related risks and opportunities). Description of written policies, public commitments and company goals on labour rights. All company labour right are based on Malaysia Labour Laws. B2) Implementation Description of concrete actions taken by the company to implement labour policies, address labour risks and respond to labour violations. Management conduct monthly meeting with employee representative to discuss any work related issue. Newbox implemented the minimum wages according to the Malaysia Labour Laws on 1/01/2013. Under this law, all workers including foreign worker are paid at minimum RM900/month. Company provides free passport safekeeping services to all the foreign workers. This action is not compulsory and worker may access to their passport at any time. Management will review Labour Right periodically and employees are allowed to raise any issue during monthly meeting. C) Environment C1) Assessment, policy and goals Description of the relevance of environmental protection for the company (i.e. environmental risks and opportunities). Description of policies, public commitments and company goals on environmental protection. Newbox always committed on enviroment requirement which comply with ISO 9001:2008 regarding quality and enviroment requirements. C2) Implementation Description of concrete actions to implement environmental policies, address environmental risks and respond to environmental incidents. All chemical storage rack was added with an extra container on the bottom to prevent pollution if there is leakage. Newbox implement “Water and Electricity Management” to monitor the monthly usage/consumption. C3) Measurement of outcomes Description of how the company monitors and evaluates environmental performance. Management will review enviroment issue periodically. No measurement of outcome for the extra container as no leakage incident was reported this year. No measurement of outcome for “Water and Electricity Management” as this is the first year of implementation. D) Anti-Corruption D1) Assessment, policy and goals Description of the relevance of anti-corruption for the company (i.e. anti-corruption riskassessment). Description of policies, public commitments and company goals on anti-corruption. Newbox have strict stance and will never tolerate with corruption. D2) Implementation Description of concrete actions to implement anti-corruption policies, address anti-corruption risks and respond to incidents. Adherence to Malaysia Anti-corruption Laws. Newbox discourage employee nor allow his immediate family to receive on his behalf gift or provision of gratuitous services from or to the company’s contractors, supplier, customer or others. D3) Measurement of outcomes Description of how the company monitors and evaluates anti-corruption performance. No incident was reported this year.
