Step 3: Sustain ACMP Chapter – What you need to know In its first year after affiliation, there are a few key requirements that your chapter must meet. Specifically: 1. Increase your membership numbers. 2. Hold at least two chapter events within one year of affiliation 3. Hold your first Annual General Meeting according to the requirements of your incorporation, and provide your members with the opportunity to see your chapter by-laws and to stand for election as Board members. 4. If your chapter is within North America, obtain appropriate insurance within one year of affiliation (at a minimum, obtain Directors & Officers Liability Insurance). Stay connected Join the Chapter Leader Forum: ACMP Global offers a Chapter Leader Forum that gives you the opportunity to connect with and share information with chapter leaders from around the world. Make sure that your chapter actively participates in this forum to share best practices and to have the opportunity to provide input into ACMP Global initiative as they arise. Attend ACMP Global Conferences: At past ACMP Global Conferences, space has been provided in the conference’s Exhibit Hall for chapters to display some information and meet in person with conference attendees from their region. The ACMP Global Conference is an excellent opportunity for your chapter to reach out to potential members and to let everyone see your presence. Past ACMP Global Conferences have also begun with a meeting of ACMP volunteers including ACMP Global Board member, chapter leaders, and members from a variety of ACMP committees. These meetings have provided the opportunity for volunteers to reflect on what is working well and where there is opportunity for improvement in ACMP’s volunteer activities. Consider having at least one of your chapter’s local leaders attend the next ACMP Global Conference to raise your chapter’s profile and connect with other volunteers and leaders.
