Internship Opportunities with the Niagara Falls National Heritage Area
1.
Accounting/Business Major- position would enhance intern’s knowledge of the business
management of a nonprofit organization. Responsibilities include basic bookkeeping
with QuickBooks and preparing financial reports.
2. Research Assistant/Public History (2)- position would enhance intern’s knowledge of
researching interpretive themes for the National Heritage Area and the Niagara Falls
Underground Railroad State Heritage Area and developing interpretation based on those
themes to be used in publications, website and social media outlets.
3.
Public Relations/Business/Hospitality- position would enhance intern’s knowledge of
marketing and public relations of a nonprofit organization with a strong focus on
fostering heritage tourism. Interns would be expected to write press releases, newsletters
and utilize technology to promote the National Heritage Area.
4.
Event Planner/Hospitality- position would enhance intern’s experience in planning
events focused on heritage tourism. Specifically, this intern would plan the events and
logistics for the Alliance of National Heritage Area conference in October 2014.
