UNT INSTITUTE FOR THE ADVANCEMENT OF THE ARTS (IAA)
Faculty Fellowship Program for 2016-2017
CALL FOR PROPOSALS
The mission of the UNT Institute for the Advancement of the Arts is to showcase, support, and advance
excellence in the visual, performing and creative literary arts at the University of North Texas, among its
faculty members and in conjunction with their renowned colleagues and collaborators. The primary
purpose of the Fellowship is to provide Faculty Fellows with 100% reassignment for one semester to
accomplish and present creative research projects. Such projects are defined by research that supports
and informs the artistic creation of a new work (or works) in music, visual art, literature, choreography,
media and related fields. This is in contrast to research resulting in purely scholarly publications or
editions in the arts, humanities or social sciences. Typically, the project will be presented to the university
and general public as a performance, literary publication, media presentation or visual arts exhibition. As
it is a goal of the fellows program to raise the profile of the creative artist as well as the university, the
ability to ensure a national venue with high visibility and wide audience is a critical criterion.
