Help us Celebrate Winter at The University of Melbourne’s Burnley
Campus
Sunday 31 August 2014 10:00am – 3:00pm
Tours of the historic Burnley Gardens and the new Green Roofs, specialist
gardening advice, demonstrations of current research projects and hands-on
workshops are sure to get you planning for Spring!
The Friends of Burnley Gardens Propagation Group will conduct a plant sale, list
on the FOBG website.
Bring along your garden problems and troublesome plants, or just listen to the
experts imparting their wisdom in the Q & A sessions.
Muster point is outside old café (Student Amenity Building) beside the Plant stall.
Please be there 5 minutes before your activity is due to start.
Morning and afternoon tea is available; free parking on Yarra Boulevard.

10:00 – Plant Sale starts
10:30 – Green Roof Tour with Sue Murphy, Senior Tutor, Burnley Campus and co-author of the
Growing Green Guide - a Guide to Green Roofs, Walls and Facades in Melbourne and
Victoria (20 places)
Victorian Grasslands presented by Adrian Marshall, landscape architect, graphic
designer and author of Start with the Grasslands - Design Guidelines to Support Native
Grasslands in Urban Areas (30 places)
11:30 – Garden Tour with Jane Wilson, Friend of Burnley Gardens Archivist and Coordinator of
the Garden Guides (20 people)
Terrarium workshop presented by Sascha Andrusiak, Technical Officer, Burnley Campus
Nursery (15 people)
1st Gardening Q & A session hosted by Stephen Ryan, proprietor of Dicksonia Rare Plants
Nursery and media personality (120 places; bookings not taken for this event)
12:30 – Garden Tour with Andrew Smith, Gardens Coordinator, Burnley Campus (20 places)
Green Roof Tour with Jenny McCoy, Engagement Officer, Burnley Campus (20 places)

1:30 – Tour of Burnley’s significant trees with John Fordham, arboriculturalist and immediate
past President of the Friends of Burnley Gardens (20 places)
