2015 Native American Student Award Nomination The Native American Student Award Committee of the Plains Anthropological Society announces its intent to award one or more grants of up to $1000 each to qualifying Native American student(s). The Committee may evaluate and award separate grants to undergraduate and graduate students in Anthropology. Grant funds are intended to help defray the costs of tuition, books, room and board for the student(s). Funds will be administered by the winning student’s academic department. The successful recipient will also receive a one year membership in the Plains Anthropological Society that includes receiving the peer-reviewed journal Plains Anthropologist. Nominees should meet the following criteria: Nominees must be Native American (includes Metis) Nominees must be either graduate or undergraduate students in anthropology or archaeology Undergraduate nominees may attend any four-year college or university in either the United States or Canada that provides specific coursework or research covering Great Plains anthropology. In your letter of interest or application, please include a description of appropriate coursework or research that you have undertaken. Graduate nominees must be engaged in research that relates to some aspect of the Great Plains, but do not need to be attending a university located on the Great Plains Nominees must submit the necessary documentation to the Committee on or before September 25, 2015. The Committee will select one or more recipients and announce its decision at the Annual Meeting of the Plains Anthropological Society (October 14-17, 2015 in Iowa City, IA). The Committee will notify the recipient(s) and his or her department following the Annual Meeting.
