2016 Springfield Heritage Arts Grants The Springfield Arts Commission’s annual Heritage Arts Grant program is now open for grant applications. The program provides monetary grants to Springfield groups that contribute to arts and culture in Springfield. The goal of the program is to encourage community-based, arts-related public programs. Grants range in amount from $100 to $500. Any group may apply for funding for more than one project per year. Please indicate which project is the group’s priority. The grant program is funded by City of Springfield room taxes. To participate in the program, organizations must meet the following requirements: 1. The project must take place in Springfield. Preference will be given to organizations based in Springfield. 2. Applicants must represent an organized group that reflects the community’s historic, cultural, or ethnic diversity. Awards will not be made to individuals or businesses. 3. The proposed project must be arts-related and result in a public performance or exhibit. 4. The proposed project must be completed within 12 months of the issue date of the award funds. 5. The applicant must agree to acknowledge the contribution of the Springfield Arts Commission and the City of Springfield in all publicity and printed material, and must provide copies to the Springfield Arts Commission. 6. The applicant must agree to return a short evaluation form to the Springfield Arts Commission within a month of the performance or exhibit. Applicants who have not completed their projects within 6 months of issue date will submit a written progress report on the status of their project. 7. Applicants are expected to provide a matching contribution of at least half the amount of the grant award. The match can be donated materials, services, staff time, volunteer time, cash or any combination of the above. 8. Applications may be submitted at any time but are reviewed only 3 times per year. To be evaluated at one of the scheduled review dates, applications must be submitted 3 weeks prior to the regularly scheduled SAC meetings in October, February and May.
