East White Horse Beach Oceanside Association Annual Meeting June, 28 2014 These minutes are not verbatim. They are the secretary’s interpretation of what took place at the meeting Meeting opened at 10:05 Members in attendance: Officers & Board members Dawn Dillon – President Jean Afzali – Treasurer Cheryl Damiano – Secretary Area reps – Bill Dibble, Susan Kirkland, Robyn Jarvis, Alice Baker, Gerry Blais (Corrina Carter absent) More than enough association members were present to meet our quorum Jean Afzali’s Treasurer’s report: The current balance in our account is $ 7817.94. This is comprised of annual membership dues. $345 from Achin Family Memorial donations. Expenses of $180.55 for office supplies. Dawn Dillon gave a synopsis to members present, of: Town Manager’s parking presentation as given to the MVSC.( Please see MVSC minutes) Meet & greet with Rep Vinnie DeMacedo FEMA Elevation Grant presentation, WHB is eligible for this grant. The town has to apply. The presentation will be available on the town’s website. Lee Hartman is the contact person at town hall Cheryl Damiano reported: Communication with Mike Galla and the status of moving the bank of mailboxes. Our request for purple trash bags for our Association July 4th clean up Including Paul Jacobs’ email (he is a member of the Beach & Coastal Advisory Committee) on our association page as a contact for beach issues. Alice Baker brought us up to date: Her research with the info & decisions as related to the Freeland 40 B project, present and from 10 years ago. Gerry Blais presented: Our charter review and update. We are now operating as a Homeowners Association. Our charter with the state is fine and will be renewed and the $15 filing fee will be submitted. Area Update with open meeting discussion Area 1- July 4th purple bag trash pickup by the DPW. Place bags at the Taylor Ave lot by 3:45 and the town will collect them. Area 2 – no reports Area 3- there has been neighborhood concerns with the dilapidated house at 85A Taylor Ave. Discussion as to whether the association should reach out to the property owner and inquire what his intent with the property is. The issue of vehicles &driving through the ROW was presented, by request of an association member. Members feel passionately about this issue. The decision was to handle this as abutting neighbors. Caution was conveyed that courtesy and patience should be employed by all. Area 4 – no reports Should we look into “doggie stations” at the public entrances of the beach? This will be part of future discussion with the town. Future Social Dates July 4th – 8am Beach cleanup. Place the purple bags at the Taylor Ave lot by 3:45 and the town will dispose of them for us. Baggo Day – July 19th Interest? Time? (President’s Note: Due to lack of interest, Baggo Day has been cancelled) Movie Night - To be held August 16th at the open area near 145C. A vote was taken to approve the use $500 of Association funds to pay for the set-up of projector & screen. Popcorn will be provided. BYOC (bring your own chair) All are invited! At this time, Shirley Dedrick and Larry Bankart will step down as Area Reps. Alice Baker will represent Areas 3&4 All officers have agreed to renew for another term. A motion was made to renew the terms of current officers. The motion was seconded and approved. (President’s Note: Alice Baker resigned as Area Rep. There are 2 open slots for Area 3 Reps, and 1 open slot for Area 1) Meeting adjourned 12:05
