The applicant must meet all of the following eligibility criteria:
Show exceptional promise and ability as a journalist, including demonstrated interest in and aptitude for a reporting or editing career
Outstanding contributions to on-campus journalism, including excellence in reporting
Commitment to high journalistic standards exemplified by Ann Devroy in her career
The fellowship is open to qualified students who have at least one more semester before completing their degree
at UW-Eau Claire and have not been previously selected for the Devroy Fellowship
The applicant is required to write an essay in which all of the points below are clearly addressed in 500 words or less.
1. List the positions in on-campus journalism (print, broadcast and/or multimedia) you have had, along with the dates
2. List the internship and/or work experience you’ve had that would be relevant to interning on a newspaper and/or a multimedia newspaper website
3. How will the Ann Devroy Fellowship assist your educational goals?
4. Identify your short and long-term career objectives
5. Describe your commitment to the standards set by Ann Devroy during her career
An incomplete and/or late application or an essay that exceeds 500 words will not be considered.
The applicant is required to fill in the information in the grid below and type the essay starting on page two of this document. In addition, the applicant is required to attach his/her resume and three to five relevant clips or digital story files.

The Ann Devroy Fund has been established at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Foundation to recognize the outstanding journalistic work of Ann Devroy, class of 1970, and to encourage and assist journalism students to emulate her professional achievements.
The winner of this award also is expected to be present at the Communication and Journalism Student
Excellence Recognition Reception on May 9, 2014, 3:15-4:45 p.m., location TBA.
