Fields Scholarship Application The applicant must meet all of the following eligibility criteria: Be a continuing Mass Communication-Advertising or Journalism (Print or Broadcast) major Have applied for a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and the FAFSA must indicate financial need Go to the Financial Aid Office and ask to complete a Verification of Need for Scholarship form Scan that form and submit it via email with your application Criteria for this award include GPA, extracurricular activities, and future promise in the field of journalism or advertising Preference will be given to a non-traditional student The applicant is required to write an essay in which all of the points below are clearly addressed in 500 words or less. 1. 2. 3. 4. Fields, an award-winning writer with decades of experience as a reporter, photographer and editor. He served as Chair of the Department of Journalism from 1984 -1992 and continues his writing career at home in Knoxville TN.
