The GS199: Internship Adjunct represents an educational strategy that links classroom learning with the application of knowledge in an applied work setting. Students may receive 1/4 unit of credit by participating in an internship for a minimum of four weeks and 40 hours of supervised work. The GS199 is taken under the Pass/No credit grading option only. A maximum of two GS199 internships may be completed. http://www.coloradocollege.edu/academics/outsidetheclassroom/internships/ Occasionally, organizations mandate that students pursuing internships receive academic credit from their college. Davidson has a process that allows students to receive that credit for their summer internships. In order to qualify for this credit, which will be assigned as Explorer 099, the summer internship must be unpaid and require academic credit as a part of the organization's internship program. Learn more about Explorer 099 internship requirements. “Our students can request a letter and incorporate an internship into a special topics course (if they can find a supportive member of the faculty).” Students who are not required to receive academic credit for their internship, but who are still interested in receiving credit, have the option of pursuing an independent study with a faculty member. These students must find a Davidson faculty member willing to serve as a supervisor for their independent study. The student and faculty member will discuss appropriate assignments. If the student pursues a summer internship, the credit will be assigned during the following fall semester. http://www.davidson.edu/offices/career-development/students/internships/internshipcompensation-and-academic-credit https://denison.edu/campus/student-jobs/internships/denison-internship-program http://www.dickinson.edu/info/20211/career_center/591/student_intenship_notation_program http://www.grinnell.edu/about/offices-services/cls/internships/credit?group=29216 http://www.hamilton.edu/careercenter/career-related-experience/credit-for-internships http://careerservices.lafayette.edu/students/gain-experience/internships/receiving-collegecredit-for-internships/ https://www.mtholyoke.edu/cdc/internships/academic_credit Denison University Dickinson College Grinnell College Hamilton College Lafayette College Yes to TN Yes to TN Yes to credit Yes to credit Yes to credit Mount Holyoke College Pomona College Yes, 2 options Yes to TN Internship Transcript Notation Pomona College awards academic credit for classroom-based coursework only, which excludes internships and any other experientially-based learning activities that are not required as part of an approved course. A student who is interested in participating in an internship for which eligibility requires that the student receive credit should contact the Career Development Office (CDO). The CDO has been authorized by the faculty to assess internship options and, when warranted, approve internships to be notated as equivalent to one-half-course credit by those colleges that award credit for such work, on the student’s college academic record. Pomona College does not award graduation credit for stand-alone (non-course-based) internships, so the credit is not calculated into the student’s earned units at Pomona College. http://catalog.pomona.edu/content.php?catoid=7&navoid=405 Skidmore College Trinity College Yes to credit Yes to credit Tufts University Yes acad credit and what they call career center credit Yes to TN http://www.skidmore.edu/advising/internships/guidelines.php http://www.trincoll.edu/Academics/CareerDevelopment/Students/internships/Pages/default.as px Nicely explained here: http://careers.tufts.edu/students/internships/credits.asp Washington and Lee University Wesleyan University Wellesley Williams Lots of different options No credit or TN but clever way of making an internship the basis of a for-credit course for those orfg that will not waive the credit requirement Sort of - see notes http://www.wlu.edu/career-development/students/internship-and-job-search/internship-forcredit http://www.wesleyan.edu/careercenter/jobsinterns/internships/credit_for_internships.html http://www.wellesley.edu/cws/internships/internship101/credit From their Director: “We award one credit for a "summer learning experience" and express that in a letter to employers.
