Obtain some quick coaching on your oral presentation skills. Based on Dale Carnegie's popular book, we will learn and practice the techniques that are offered in the book. This will be helpful when coordinating in your team and with your project partner. Is your team asked weekly what the plan is? Do you find your team is always behind? Not sure what a Gantt chart is? Learn the basics of the software. Helps team leaders group and sort tasks in the design process, allows persons to be assigned to tasks, projects expected finish date, includes milestones. Especially for new students. Learn document management with Sharepoint, shared drive, other online resources. For every time you've heard "it's on sharepoint". Getting ready for design review! This kind of thinking is important when you consider possible failures in how your users use your project. This may be related to how your team writes a Design Failure Modes Effects Analysis (DFMEA). 8 11 11 My further email to the students who attended: Hope you liked the content of the seminar. If it did not seem to relate to your EPICS project, please allow me to show you some key points from each case presented: 1) someone may add on to your design without testing it for its effects on the whole design 2) someone may ignore a maintenance issue or "work around" the issue for a very long time 3) someone may be very confident to use a design for a purpose that it was not designed for. For your benefit, please consider writing a reflection in your notebook about anticipating the above numbered items as you make progress in your designs.
