Haw River Assembly Clean-Up-A-Thon Totals 1991–2014 For 24 years, the Haw River Assembly has organized volunteers to pick up trash at sites along the 110 miles of the Haw River, on tributaries and at Jordan Lake. Weird Trash Award: Each year, teams nominate the weirdest trash they have found along the river. Past finds include: birdcage, kitchen sink, Caspar the Ghost decoration, plastic cactus, guns, rubber shark, chicken and turtle, religious statue,”tushkins”, a 1905 NJ birth certificate and a 1907 grammar book. We are amazed at the number of balls we find from every imaginable sport! Join Us! Help us keep our waters clean –and join us for this annual March event.
