ALABAMA ASSOCIATION OF FAMILY AND CONSUMER SCIENCES
FRESHMAN 2-YEAR SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION
Any student currently enrolled in an Alabama high school who meets the criteria may apply for the
$500 Alabama Association of Family and Consumer Sciences (ALAFCS) Freshman 2 –Year
Scholarship to be awarded at the ALAFCS Conference.
Criteria for Eligibility
1. Applicant must be enrolled in or has taken a family and consumer sciences class and has been a
member of an affiliated chapter of the Family, Career and Community Leaders of America
Alabama Affiliate.
2. Applicant will graduate from high school in Alabama during the school year the application is
submitted.
3. Applicant will enroll and major in a field of family and consumer sciences at a two-year
institution in Alabama offering such degrees to receive the scholarship (SEE FLYER FOR
MAJORS IN ALABAMA).
Terms of Agreement
1. The recipient must enroll in a two-year program in a field of family and consumer sciences at an
institution in Alabama.
2. Scholarship recipient must have the registrar at the institution of which they are enrolled to submit
proof of enrollment to the ALAFCS scholarship chair, Morgan Milstead. Proof of enrollment will
not be accepted until the fall term has begun. Once proof of enrollment has been received, a
check for the total amount of the scholarship will be presented to the institution.
3. The scholarship application will be judged by a committee composed of ALFACS members and/or
Executive Board Members.
(No person may serve on a selection committee who has vested interest in an applicant.)
INSTRUCTIONS FOR COMPLETING THE APPLICATION
Complete the application and attach the following:
Official application form (typed)
An official copy of school transcript
Verification of ACT score
Copy of “FCCLA Chapter Affiliation Form”
Three letters of recommendation:
 Family and consumer science teacher
 Educator
 Community leader
Mail a typed application postmarked no later than December 1 to:
