Assistant Principal of the Year Award-runs July 1, 2014-June 30, 2015, state affiliates
receive a $750 check toward a celebration and a framed certificate issued in the name
of their honoree
Dawn Hochsprung “Tree of Life” Memorial- states can honor principals from their states
who have made an “extraordinary sacrifice”
2015 NAESP Annual Conference in Long Beach, CA –Tuesday, June 30—Thursday, July 2
Leading Pre-K-3 Learning Communities publication will be available digitally in the near
future
State Representatives’ Meeting to select Nominating Committee, Saturday, July 12th,
4:30 – 5:30 p.m., Bayou A

Items Pending Delegate Assembly Approval of Proposed Bylaws:

Both the current and proposed NAESP Bylaws have been posted on the website for
review. In addition the following activities/announcements have occurred throughout
the year:
o July 12th—the Delegate Assembly referred the proposed bylaws back to the
committee;
o August 9th—the Board of Directors charged the Bylaws Review Committee to
review the proposed bylaws and to reconsider two key issues…voting in NAESP
elections, and the nomination process;
o October 11th—NAESP sent an email to the membership soliciting feedback on
the proposed bylaws and zone directors sought additional feedback from the
field;
o November 6th—the Bylaws Review Committee met to consider the feedback and
to prepare a final report for the Board of Directors





o February 2014—the Committee presented their final proposed amendments to
the Board of Directors
o February 2014—the Board of Directors met to consider the Committee’s
proposed amendments and made two additional changes.
o February 2014—the proposed bylaws were next distributed and discussed in
zone meeting associated with the National Leaders Conference;
o April 2014—NAESP posted a blog post alerting the membership of the proposed
bylaws;
o April 2014—the Communicator included notice of the proposed bylaws;
o May 2014—once again the Communicator included notice of the proposed
bylaws changes
o May 2014—current and proposed bylaws posted for review on the NAESP
website
