Dearly beloved Saints:
It is a privilege and spiritual duty to recommend to you this Manual which contains the discipline and teachings of “The Life” Church of South Carolina ministry body. The church is at liberty to make these scriptural suggestions in order that all might work in harmony and unity until the return of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
“The Life” Church continues the beliefs taught by the early church. It is built firmly on the teachings of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior (Christology/Doctrine of Christ), who is the chief cornerstone, of whom all the foundation is firmly built upon.
Let us humbly follow Christ, our Great Leader, and take His word for our Rule of Faith and
Practice.

“The Life” Church of South Carolina By-Laws
CHAPTER I, NAME AND MISSION
This organization shall be called “The Life Church of South Carolina. The scriptural designation and mandate of “The Life” Church shall be based on “Holiness” as God the Father said “Be ye
Holy; for I am Holy.” (1 Pet. 1:15-16). The prime mission for this organization is to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ, His death, burial and resurrection, so that souls would come into the knowledge of Jesus Christ and accept His as Lord and Savior of their lives. Our organization will encourage Christian believers to hold up a standard of Holiness and to constantly seek God for the moving of His spirit in their lives. Elders, ministers, evangelists, missionaries and teachers, and deacons who are called and set apart, vessels of honor unto God, ready for the
Master’s use; will be trained and ordained under this organization by the power of the Holy
Ghost. All ordinances and commandments which were performed by our Lord will be enforced;
(Acts 2:38, Acts 19:4-5, Romans 6:3-4, Ephesians 4:5, 1 Peter 3:21, Galatians 3:2-7). This Body shall take part in serving the Lord’s Supper and by occasion, that of feet washing as demonstrated by our Lord to show humility (1 Cor. 11:23-30, John 13:4-17), Performance of marriages as directed by our Lord (Gen 2:18-23, Gen 3:20, Hebrew 13:4, 1 Tim. 5:14),
Resurrection of the dead to Life in Christ (John 11:25-26, 1 Thess. 4:13-18).
ARTICLES OF FAITH
1) We believe “The Life” Church of South Carolina represents a viable church body in the
Body of Christ Church, our living Lord and Savior which has been founded upon the Rock,
Christ Jesus.
2) “The Life” Church believes in God, creator and maker of all things, and in His divine Son,
Jesus Christ, and in the Holy Ghost, the comforter. We believe that God, our Eternal Father, the son Jesus, and the Holy Ghost are All One, to redeem mankind, and to deliver man from sickness, sorrow, eternal misery, death and sin. That we too, as Jesus Christ, have victory over the world (Col. 1:19, Col. 2:9).
3) We believer in the Holy Conception of the Holy Child Jesus, born to a virgin. We believe that Jesus lived 33 ½ years on earth sinless. Jesus proved himself by performing many miracles. He healed the sick, raised the dead, cast out the devils, gave sight to the blind and cleansed the lepers.
4) We believe that Jesus Christ was crucified, died and was buried. However, we believe that
Jesus arose by His Divine power on the third day just like He said He would.
5) We believe man was created in the image of God. However, because of the fall of Adam, who was first created by God, man was alienated from God. However, we believe that men can reconcile back to God through God’s redeeming grace (Romans 5:12-21).
6) We believe that it is not God’s will that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance (2 Pet. 3:9).
7) We believe that God has revealed himself to mankind the Old and New Testaments. We believe that all scriptures are given by inspiration of God, and are profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness (11 Tim. 3:16).
8) We believe that the love of God was manifested when God sent forth hos only begotten son to redeem sin stricken men back to the almighty God. We believe that the son, Jesus Christ, gave His life to fulfill God’s eternal purpose. We believe that without the shedding of blood
there is no remission of sin (John 3:16), Hebrews 9:22, 2:16, 4:15, Psalms 51:17, Luke
24:27, Acts 2:38, Galatians 3:16, 3:13).
9) We believe that, after the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, this same Jesus
Christ ascended into heaven to become our mediator between God and Man (1 Timothy 2:5,
Col. 1:14, Heb. 9:24).
10) We believe that there are three stages to the Salvation Process: Repentance, Baptism of
Water in Jesus Name (Acts 2:38), and the baptism of the Holy Ghost and Fire. Man must admit that he is a sinner and that he needs forgiveness for his sins. After repentance, man must be emerged in water in Jesus Name, which is an outward form of an inward grace.
Finally, Man must call upon the name of the Lord so that he shall be filled with the Spirit of
God (Mark 16:15). We believe that the evidence of being filled with the Spirit of God comes when one begin to speak in tongues as the spirit of God gives the utterance (Romans
5:1, 16, 18, 10:13, 4:25, St. John 17, 1 Thess. 4:3, 5:23, Acts 2:1-38, Acts 19:1-6).
11) We believe in divine healing of the body, through the power of the Holy Ghost (Mark 16:18,
Matt. 8:17, Isaiah 53:4-5).
12) We believe in the Christian Sabbath as the Lord’s Day which should be used as a day of rest and worship, 13:44, Heb. 10:24-25).
13) We believe in the second coming of Jesus Christ, the Resurrection and translation of Saints
(the Rapture), the tribulation and the Millennial Reign (Matt. 24:36-42, Luke 17:20-27, Cor.
15:51-54, 1 Thess. 4:13, Rev. 20:6, Daniel 12:1, Matt. 24:3-8, Rev. 20:15, Isa. 65:17-25,
Matt. 5:5, Dan 7:27, Micah 4:12, Heb. 2:14, Rom. 11:25, 27).
CHAPTER II, ORDINANCES
ARTICLE 1, BAPTISM
Institution: Water baptism is commanded in the New Testament. The first person in scripture that was inspired to baptize was John the Baptist (Matthew 21:25 “The Baptism of John, from where was it? From Heaven, or of men?). John did not invent baptism, for he himself said someone sent him to baptize (John 1:33, 1:6).
Baptism was approved by God. Jesus proved that it was from above, for he allowed himself to be baptized at the hands of John saying “Suffer it to be now: for thus it becometh us to filfill all righteousness.” (Mat. 3:15). Of this the Spirit of God bore witness, descending like a dove upon him and a voice from heaven declaring he was well pleased. (Mat. 3:17).
Jesus instituted the Christian baptism but did not change the method, only the reason. From baptism unto repentance (Acts 19:4), to taking on His name and partaking of His burial. For he commanded his disciples to baptize in the name (singular). (Mat 28:19, Romans 6:1-11), Acts
2:38, 8:16, 10:48, 19:5) shows where the disciples of Jesus fulfilled the commandment after receiving the Holy Ghost.
Mode of Baptism: Total immersion in water is the way in which the early church baptized. By the scripture, it was clear that they went down into the water. (Acts 8:38). Therefore, we are buried with him in baptism into death. (Romans 6:4, Col. 2:12) and (Acts 8:39). And Jesus when he was baptized went straight out of the water (Mat. 3:16, Mark 1:10). These are scriptural proof that the method of baptism for the early church was immersion in water.
ARTICLE 2, COMMUNION
Institution : The word communion of the Lord’s Supper is an ordinance of the New Testament according to Apostle Paul. It was instituted by our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the night of His betrayal (1 Cor. 10:16).
This has been recorded for us by four different men inspired by God (Mat. 26:26/28, Mark
14:22-24, Luke 22:19-20, 1 Cor. 11:23-29). Matthew was at the Lord’s Supper so he was an eye witness to the event. Paul received his account by revelation from the Lord. Mark and Luke were apostolic men who received their information from the apostles. All four men agreed on the event and that Jesus instituted it. A memorial of His death and the purpose it.
ARTICLE 3, FEET WASHING
Instituted: This commandment is instituted by Jesus in St. John 13:4-5 and 13:16, saying “If I then, your Lord and Master, have washed your feet; ye also ought to wash one another’s feet.”
ARTICLE 4, DEDICATION OF CHILDREN
Instruction: While the children are being brought forward, the minister shall say:
“And they brought young children that He should touch them; and his disciples rebuked those that brought them. But when Jesus saw it, he was much displeased, and said unto them, Suffer the little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child, he shall not enter therein, and He took them up in his arms, put his hands upon them, and blessed.” Mark 10:13-16
Invocation: God our Father, thou art the giver of life, we thank thee for the manifestation of thy love, and the gracious works of Thy Son Jesus, Who for love of us, himself became a little child.
We ask thy blessings upon these parents as they dedicate this child which you have entrusted to their care. Amen
CHAPTER III
THE CHRISTIAN CHURCH
ARTICLE 1
A Christian church according to the New Testament, is a body of persons, divinely called and separated from the things of the world.
A church is a living organism and an executive body, making decisions through the power of prayer and fasting according to the word of God. The church is at liberty to exercise its freedom so long as it does not go contrary to the word of God. In matters of business and in the exercise of its administrative authority, the will of the church is expressed by the majority vote of the
Saints.
The church is the body of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. The purpose of the church is to preach the glad tidings of Jesus Christ, so that souls might come into the knowledge of Jesus and
accept him as Lord and Savior of their lives. Therefore, men cannot join the church but must be born into the church by repentance, water baptism in the name of Jesus and through baptism of the Holy Ghost. (Scriptures; Acts 2, Eph. 1:22-23, Gal. 5:5-22, Gal. 1:25, Rom. 2:14-21, 1 Cor.
12:12, Rom. 16:5, 1 Cor. 16:19, 1 Cor. 2:16, Isa. 28:56, 33:22, 1 Cor. 13, Phil. 2:1-5).
ARTICLE 2,
HOW TO ORGANIZE
A church shall be organized as they were in the scriptures (Acts 2:44, Rom. 16:5, Phil. 1:1,
Tim. 3:8-13).
A church that holds property as a body bust be able to identify itself. It must have a name and must be able to determine its membership by records in some way.
ARTICLE 3
VOTING
In some ways the opinion of the body must be made known on certain issues, such as the election of officers, and matters of discipline. A body must make decisions by voting. However, the word of God tells us that all things must be done decently and in order (1 Cor. 14:40). No decisions should be made without prayer and or fasting.
CHAPTER IV
CHURCH DISCIPLINE
ARTICLE 1
PURPOSE
With the spirit of love and meekness, all discipline in the church should be conducted with the intent of gaining our brother or sister and with the intent of correcting the wrong with the word of God. We are warned that offenses will come, but woe unto that man through whom the offense comes. Hence, with the desire to settle the offense and win the offenders, a deep sense of responsibility to maintain the honor of the Name of Jesus Christ and purity of the Church must be upheld by the Church of Jesus Christ.
ARTICLE 2
PRIVATE OFFENSES
Private offenses which exist between individuals has no direct reference to the Church of
Christ. However, we must follow the guidelines of Jesus Christ in Matthew 18:15-17 .
Dispute Resolution Process among Believers:
Sec. 1. The member who feels that he has been offended must go to the offender and tell his grief. The word says that “if he shall hear thee, thou has gained thy brother.”
Sec. 2.
If the first step fails, then the offended member must take two or three brethren as witnesses. Remember the words of Jesus, “But if he will not hear thee, then take thee one or two more, that in the mouth of two of three witnesses every word may be established.”
Sec. 3.
If the second step fail, the offended is to bring the matter before the church and the church shall dispose of it as it seems best.
Again, we are warned in the scriptures that, “If he shall neglect to hear them, tell it to the church.
The term “the Church” means the Elders of the church, not necessarily to the sole Pastor, in most instances.
Sec. 4.
If this shall not prevail and all is unsuccessful, the offender must be cut off from the fellowship of the Church, e.g. (As holding offices is concerned or being in authority is concerned). The Word tells us that “if he neglects to hear the Church, let him be unto you as an heathen man, and a publican.” However, painful the act, the Church must be faithful to its duty and to God.
ARTICLE 3
PUBLIC OFFENSES
Public offenses are any acts of dishonor against the Church of which the member belong.
The following are some of the causes of the offense:
False Doctrine: Galatians 1:19, 2 John 10
Disregard of authority: Mat. 18:17, 1 Thess. 5:14
Contentions and Strife: Romans 16:17
Immoral Conduct: 1 Cor. 5:11
Disorderly Walk: 2 Thess. 3:6-9
Covetous Spirit: Eph. 5:5, 1 Cor. 5:11
Going to Law against brethren: 1 Cor. 6:1-11
When private difficulties exists among members which they cannot settle, the church should consider them public offenses and dispose of them to avoid injury they inflict.
CHAPTER IV
MEMBERSHIP
The body is composed of ministers, deacons, missionaries, members, and such delegates as shall be agreed upon. All members holding offices must fulfill the obligation required by our
Lord in Acts 2:38.
ARTICLE 1
PASTOR’S DUTIES
The pastor shall visit all members to encourage, reprove, and to rebuke as the case may require. Pastors also must offer prayer for the home and sick and shut-in (Jer. 3:15, Acts 20:18,
20 and 27).
ARTICLE 2
DEACONS
The called deacons have the general charge of the temporal interests of the church. They shall see that the place of worship is cleaned, lighted and kept in proper condition for worship.
They shall see that the things needed for the Lord’s Supper are provided for. They are to visit the sick and needy and assist them. The deacons are to be filled with the Holy Ghost and must be a support to the Pastor (1 Tim. 3:8-13).
ARTICLE 3

The secretary/administrative support must be faithful and trustworthy to the church and must keep accurate records able to be verified.
ARTICLE 4

The Sunday School is a department of the church and shall be governed and supported by the church. The leading officers are, Superintendent, Assistant Superintendent, Secretary, Teacher and Librarian, and such officers as deemed required.
All officers shall be punctual (15 minutes prior to teaching), faithful (attend bible study and worship services), and accurate (fully knowledgeable of all lessons taught).
ARTICLE 5
WHOM NOT TO RECEIVE
Put out from among yourselves that wicked person. (1 Cor. 5:9-13). Evil and immoral, those who will not work but meddle and make themselves busy in other men’s matters; avoid those. Conduct must not be so named among members (2 Thess. 3:11, 1 Tim. 5:13).
ARTICLE 6
WHO TO RECEIVE
Membership in the visible body must be determined by the members of the body, via right hand of fellowship and love, acceptance, and forgiveness. “The Life” Church will accept anyone who are determined with a made up mind and heart to accept Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior and ready and determined to turn from prior evil ways and doings unto the Lord.
Jesus, our Lord and Savior said these words “Come unto Me, ALL YOU who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest, Take My yoke upon YOU, and learn of Me; for I am meek and lowly in heart; and you shall find rest unto your souls, For My yoke is EASY, and My burden is light” (Matthew 11:28-30).
ARTICLE 7
RECEPTION OF MEMBERS
Per personal acceptance of Jesus’ Invitation, all applicants shall present before the church body and openly agree to submission and obedience to all church governances and fellowship in faith in harmony with the Word of God, who may then enjoy full privileges of the Church.
ARTICLE 8

Church and is in fellowship and harmony with us in the work, and we commend
_______________ to the fellowship of the saints. He or she is dismissed from us with Love to be united with the church elsewhere.
S//Secretary
S//Pastor
B. Anyone taking letters from “The Life” Church of South Carolina, shall deposit the same with some other Bible believing, Bible Teaching church of the same faith and order.
CHAPTER VI
SPECIAL KINGDOM ADVICE
ARTICLE 1
TEMPERANCE
A large portion of violent crimes and abuses are caused by the use of strong drink in the world today. The spirit of Christ Jesus lead us not to condone the use or sale of intoxicating liquor as a beverage (1 Cor. 3:16-17; Eph. 5:17-18).
ARTICLE 2
SELF-INDULGENCE
The use of illicit drugs and the sale of it, is strictly prohibited. The church also do not condone the use of tobacco products in any form (II Cor. 7:1, James 1:21, and 1 Cor. 3:16-17).
ARTICLE 3
SECRET SOCIETIES
All societies requiring an oath or promise of secrecy as a condition of membership, is held as a secret order. Any member who joins or continue in such violates his obligation to the Word of
God. For these organizations are not of God, but of the world (1 Thess. 5:5, 1 John 1:5-6 and
Mat. 10:26).
ARTICLE 4
DRESS
We are to shun the very appearance of evil and we are to love not the world neither the things that are of the world. If any man loves the world, then the love of the Father is not in him, 1
John 2:15-17. The world, its fads and fashions are not the place for the church of God to look for its style of dress code. We are the ambassadors of Christ. Therefore, one must look to his Word and stand on what it says (Deu 7:6, 22:5, 1 Tim. 2:9-10, and 1 Pet. 2:9-10).
We like to say “COME AS YOU ARE, BUT YOU WILL NOT STAY AS YOUR ARE”.
ARTICLE 5
MARRIAGE AND DIVORCE
A.
“Marriage is honorable in all and the bed is undefiled, but whoremongers and adulterers
God will judge (Hebrews 13:4).
B.
We do not prohibit members from marrying persons not connected to our church assembly. We do discourage a marriage where a member may be leaving the truth of
God’s word to enter into non-truth. Marriages between saved and unsaved persons are not condoned in scriptures. However, two unsaved may marry providing that neither party has a living spouse, as being consistent with scriptural teachings from Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior and Apostle Paul (1 Cor. 7:10-15; 7:39).
C.
We expect each and every minister must stand, explicitly on the Word of God concerning this issue (II Cor. 6:14-16). We recognize there may be members in body who have been divorced, however, we agree with scripture as it relates to what Jesus said for the grounds for divorce and remarriage (Matthew 19:9-12 and Matthew 5:32).
ARTICLE 6
HOUSE OF WORSHIP
The Lord’s house shall exclusively be a place which the Church of God gathers to worship the true and living God in the beauty of Holiness. The Lord’s house shall not be used as a place of merchandise (1 Cor. 11:22, Matthew 21:13).
All musical instruments are to be used for the glory of God only, Psalms 150:3-5.
ARTICLE 7
RAISING OF MONEY – COLLECTIONS (TITHES & OFFERINGS)
Reference will be made to “New Membership” Manual. “Will a man rob God?” (Mal 3:8-
10). We insist that no great taxation be made upon the members, for the Tithes and Offerings are for the managing of God’s house. This does not prohibit a person from donating a voluntary freewill offering of any sum to the work of God in the church (Acts 5:4, 1 Cor. 9:7 and 2 Cor.
9:6-9). Each and every member, according to God’s Word, is required to set aside a Tenth of their income for use in God’s storehouse (Mal 3:8-10, Nehemiah 10:38-39).
ARTICLE 8
SUPPORT OF THE MINISTRY
The biblical order of ministerial support is found in 1 Cor. 9:7-14, we endorse the same via
“Pastoral Care Team” organization.
“Who goeth a warfare any time at his charges?”; Who planteth a vineyard and eateth not of the fruit thereof?” or feedeth a flock and eats not of the milk of the flock” (1 Cor 9:7).
Even so has the Lord ordained that they which preach the Gospel should live by the Gospel.
We expect all ministers and officers serving in that capacity to worship God in Giving, e.g., paying of Tithes and Offerings. This is for an example to the fellowship of believers.
Further, the laborer is worthy of his hire. (Luke 10:7, 1 Cor 9:14, and 1 Tim. 5:17-18).
ARTICLE 9
CIVIL GOVERNMENT
“Let every soul be subject unto the higher power. For there is no power but of God. The powers that be are ordained of God. Whosoever, therefore, resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation.” (Romans 13:1-2)
It is our duty to obey the laws of the land as long as those laws are not contrary to God’s
Word. We are to show respect to the civil government, to pay such taxation as may be required by the government, Mat 17:24-27, 22:21, 1 Pet. 2:13-17 and Titus 3:1.
CHAPTER VII

ARTICLE 2
