Dear Parents and Students:
Congratulations! In 5 short months your child will be a high school graduate! All Students are required to attend a
senior class meeting on March 12, 2013 during advisory period in the auditorium. Students will attend with their
advisory teachers. Parents are also invited to this all-important meeting. All students in attendance will receive their
first senior information packet to take home and share with their families. As time rapidly passes, ensure you’re in
good standing in all areas that affect your child’s participation in the remaining senior activities. We will review this
and much more at the meeting.
I.
Graduation Eligibility
Verify with your counselor that you have passed both sections (ELA/Math) of the CAHSEE and will have the
necessary 230 credits to graduate. If you have not passed CAHSEE you must prove enrollment in an
approved tutorial program in order to be involved in senior activities.
II.
Senior Dues
We have three senior dues packets and your final payment must be paid by March 21, 2013. Senior dues MUST be
paid with CASH or MONEY ORDER ONLY at this late date. Josten’s and representative Jack Nicholson will be
here during lunch for final pay off. Or you may pay your dues at the Student Store. All students must be paid by
April 18th which is senior clearing day. You may also look at our schools website: www.washingtonprep.org on the
senior news page to contact Josten’s. Senior dues must be paid PRIOR to participating in any senior activities and
graduation. All SENIORS MUST PAY SENIOR DUES:

School-Sponsored Activities
The remaining school-sponsored and supervised activities include Prom, Senior Trip, and Senior Scholarship
Ceremony. You must have a Washington Preparatory High School ID card in order to participate in any
senior activity. IF you lost it, you must go to the attendance office after school to receive a new one. It will cost
$5.00 for all duplicate ID cards.

STUDENTS WHO HAVE NOT SERVED DETENTIONS, PAID FOR LOST TEXTBOOKS, HAVE LESS
THAN A 96% ATTENDANCE RATE, AND DO NOT HAVE THE POTENTIAL TO COMPLETE
COURSE REQUIREMENTS PRIOR TO GRADUATION MAY NOT BE ALLOWED TO PARTICIPATE
IN ANY SENIOR ACTIVITY.
The senior prom will be held Saturday, April 20, 2013 at the Petersen Automotive Museum from 7-12pm in Los
Angeles. Tickets are $90. Full Details will be given at end of March when tickets will go on sale. Prom tickets
MUST be purchased by April 12th please plan accordingly.
The “after-prom” is NOT sponsored by the school and is not an approved school event.
Grad Night will be on June 6, 2013 and is sponsored by the Parents. This event is NOT SPONSORED BY WPHS.
Information can be obtained in the Senior Office.
IV.
Senior Announcements Showcase: Main hallway
All seniors are expected to be knowledgeable about all senior activities. In addition to announcements
that inform/remind students of important events, seniors should also check the display case in the main
building regularly for updates.
V.
Participation in Graduation
Graduation exercises will be held on June 5, 2013 at 4:00 pm on the school’s football field.
PARTICIPATION IN GRADUATION EXERCISES IS A PRIVILEGE, NOT A RIGHT. All
students will receive 6 tickets for graduation. There WILL BE no extra tickets handed out. Students who
have not met the following criteria WILL NOT be allowed to participate in the graduation ceremony,

230 credits including all academic requirements
Passing CAHSEE (California High School Exit Exam in English and Math)
If CAHSEE not passed students MUST be in a tutoring or CAHSEE prep class
ALL SENIOR DUES MUST BE PAID!
ALL SENIORS & PARENTS MUST SIGN THE SENIOR BEHAVIOR CONTRACT and TURN
INTO Ms. Augustus’s box by March 15, 2013. They will be handed out at senior meeting on March
12, 2013.
6. Payment of all fines and/or fees
7. 96% or above, in-seat attendance
8. 96% on-time arrival to all classes
9. No more than 3 U’s on report card
10. All tardy detentions served and absences cleared
11. Seniors MUST attend senior day of service at end of April to work off U’s and Absences.
12. Attendance at graduation rehearsal is MANDATORY
GRADUATION REHEARSALS ARE SCHEDULED FOR JUNE 4, 2013 at 9:00 am. ALL SENIORS MUST
BE IN ATTENDANCE. IF YOU MISS REHEARSAL, YOU WILL NOT PARTICIPATE IN THE
GRADUATION CEREMONY-NO EXCEPTIONS!
These violations may also prohibit students from participating in graduation,
1. 3 or more U's (Unsatisfactory marks in Work Habits and Cooperation) on the
final report card in June!
3. No more than 7 absences per semester
2. Suspension from school or violation of school rules
