Job Title: Part-time Anatomic Pathologist (Maternity cover) Job ref no: PPB-0052-15 Grade: 7 Department: Pathology and Pathogen Biology Accountable to: Professor of Companion Animal Pathology Responsible for: N/A Job summary: To provide specialist diagnostic interpretation of biopsy and post mortem samples from animals. Main duties and responsibilities Participation in diagnostic biopsy and post mortem examinations in a rota with pathology faculty and residents. Teaching of undergraduate students on post mortem rotation. Supervision of senior clinical training scholars (residents) in anatomic pathology. Competency: Knowledge and Experience Key tasks: Use knowledge and experience of veterinary pathology to produce high quality diagnostic reports. Competency: Communication Key tasks: Communicate diagnostic findings clearly by verbal and written means. Competency: Team Work and Motivation Key tasks: Work effectively with colleagues in the diagnostic pathology team and training group. Competency: Planning and Organising Key tasks: Plan and organise work time to meet diagnostic reporting goals for biopsy and post mortem examinations. Competency: Initiative and Problem Solving Key tasks: Show initiative in dealing with unusual biopsy or post mortem specimens. Competency: Analysis and Research Key tasks: Use current veterinary pathology literature to ensure that diagnostic reports are up-to-date with respect to classifications, diagnoses and prognoses. Competency: Liaison and Networking Key tasks: Participate in pathology group meetings and College seminars where relevant. Competency: Work Environment Key tasks: Follow Health & Safety and Ethics policies as applicable to the work. Competency: Teaching and Learning Support Key tasks: Post will include on-rota supervision of senior clinical training scholars in anatomic pathology. Flexibility: To deliver services effectively, a degree of flexibility is needed, and the post holder may be required to perform work not specifically referred to above.
