interventional suite at AI3 has equipment
which is more advanced than most hospitals
in the Tampa area and is a national show site
for General Electric Corporation
4.
Special Care and Patient Education - Patients
Advanced Imaging and Interventional
Institute (AI3) is the first and most

and Vascular Specialist outpatient
center in the Tampa Bay area. AI3
offers a full range of diagnostic
imaging and minimally invasive
outpatient procedures and is wholly
owned and staffed by Board certified

Highly Qualified Physicians – All of our
doctors are board certified Vascular
Interventional Radiologists. Dr. Jerry is the
present Chairman of the Economics
Committee SIR and has been providing a
major role in training standards for physicians
performing Interventional Radiology
6.
Less likely to become ill from infectious
disease – 5% of all hospital inpatients acquire
an infection of some kind during their stay,
according to the US Department of Health
and Human Services.

Minimally Invasive
Treatment for Vericocele
Varicocele
Embolization
What is Varicocele Embolization?
Varicocele embolization is an image-guided
procedure that uses a catheter to place a tiny
coil and/or embolic fluid in a blood vessel to
divert blood flow away from a varicocele.
What is a varicocele?
A varicocele is an enlargement of the veins
within the scrotum, the loose bag of skin that
holds your testicles. A varicocele is similar to a
varicose vein that can occur in your leg.
A varicocele often produces no signs or
symptoms. Rarely, it may cause pain or lead to
testicular atrophy (shrinkage) or fertility
problems. The pain may:




Vary from dull discomfort — a feeling of
heaviness — to sharp.
Increase with sitting, standing or
physical exertion, especially over long
periods
Worsen over the course of a day
Be relieved when you lie on your back
Now that the radiologist has imaged the
vessels supplying blood to the varicocele, he
will pass a very small catheter through the
catheter already in place and advance it out the
vein supplying the varicocele. Then small coils
and/or liquids are injected through the catheter
until the blood flow to the varicocele has been
stopped.
Your spermatic cord carries blood to and from
your testicles. It's not certain what causes
varicoceles, but many experts believe a
varicocele forms when the valves inside the
veins in the cord prevent your blood from flowing
properly. The resulting backup causes the veins
to widen (dilate).
