IEEE PCIC Codes & Regulations Subcommittee September 7, 2014, San Francisco, CA Approved Meeting Minutes Chair Rich Hulett called the meeting to order at 3:30 pm. Attendance rosters were circulated. A total of 50 people were present plus 1 excused absence. The motion was approved, as there was no objection to unanimous consent. Link to 2013 Minutes Tim Driscoll provided an update on the 2015 Canadian Electric Code. Significant changes that affect industrial applications and major rewrites were discussed. New definitions, changes in ampacity rules, and revisions of Section 18 (Hazardous Locations) and Section 62 (Fixed Electrical Space and Surface Heating Systems) and are summarized in the embedded presentation. CEC 2015 Ed Larsen gave an overview of the NFPA NEC proposal system. Those wishing to submit Public Input (formerly Proposals) for the next revision are encouraged to use the online submission process, which makes it much easier to comply with the requirement to mark-up existing text. The Public Input closing date is 11/7/2014 for online submissions and 10/3/2014 for paper submissions. NFPA Process.ppt The IEEE Standards Correlating Committee (SCC) 18 is still looking for representation on some Code Making Panels (CMPs). Contact Ed Larsen at ed.larsen@ieee.org if you would like additional information, to get involved in SCC 18, or to become a candidate for a CMP position. Eight public inputs were presented during the meeting. Following discussion and suggestions to improve proposals, members voted to approve five of the proposals for consideration of IEEE support. Results are summarized in Table 1. All proposals that received Codes & Regs Subcommittee support will be presented for consideration at the next PCIC Executive Subcommittee meeting. The next meeting will be held October 4, 2014 at PCIC in Houston, TX. Meeting was adjourned at 5:16 pm.
