Sydney Bowden February 9, 2014 Com 3580 Creating Dialogue “A Landlord wants the pass due rent money from a resident” Scene 1: (Knock at the resident door) Roger the Landlord: Hello Diana, how are you today? Diana the Resident: I’m doing well, but what do you want Roger? Roger: Diana you’re two months behind on your rent and I need some type of payment from you before the business day is over. Diana: I will have your money for you, but I need more time. Roger: Diana you are now 2 months behind. I can’t give you anymore time. The owner of the building is threatening to evict you if you do not come up with the money by the end of the day. Diana: Evict me? I have two small children to provide for! How can she even stomach the thought of putting a mother out with two children? Roger: Cut the dramatics Diana. You know how she is, and you know that it is in your housing contract that if your rent is not paid for each month that you could potentially be evicted. Diana: (Diana says in a angry voice) HOW DARE YOU KNOCK ON MY DOOR AT EIGHT IN THE MORNING AND DEMAND FOR MONEY! Roger: Lower your voice. How dare you take that tone with me when I’m the one who has been saving you and your two kids from having to live out on the street! Diana: Well since you’re being Captain Save a Family how about you go and buy me some more time? Roger: Diana I cannot do that! I refuse to put my job on the line for your irresponsibility. How much of the money do you have? Diana: I have to go and pick up a check today and I will definitely have enough for the first month that I missed, but not this past one. Roger: I’m going to need you to figure something out soon! Look at this place Diana. You can’t pay your rent, and yet your house smells like marijuana, and you can’t deny it because your neighbors can smell it down the hall. Diana: You can’t prove that the smell is coming from my house. Roger: Diana cut the bull…we all know it’s coming from your apartment, and like I said I’m standing in your doorway and as soon as you swung your door open I was instantly hit by the smell. Diana: (As she snickers) Roger, are you judging me? Because if you are you can definitely dismiss yourself right now. You can definitely go and tell your boss that she will get her money when I get it. Roger: (He says in a sarcastic tone) Yeah ok, I’ll tell her, and when you find your stuff on the curb tomorrow don’t say that I didn’t warn you because you know that she will do it. Diana: Blah, Blah, And Blah! You’ll have as much as I can give. Now Captain Save a Family get away from my door! (She says as she slams the door) Roger: DIANA I’M NOT PLAYING WITH YOU! PAY YOUR RENT TODAY!
