November is Homelessness and Hunger
Awareness Month at USC!
Although you recently received a special newsletter detailing all of the upcoming
events for Homelessness and Hunger Awareness Month, here's a helpful recap:
 November 4th - Kickoff event, Screening of The Soloist with dinner
and blanket-making: 6-8pm, Taper Hall (THH) 301
 November 5th - Sandwich-making with the Homeless Ministry and
delivery to Skid Row: 6-7pm, Caruso Catholic Center (intersection of
32nd and Hoover)
 November 12th - Sandwich-making with the Homeless Ministry and
delivery to Skid Row: 6-7pm, Caruso Catholic Center (intersection of
32nd and Hoover)
 November 13th - Screening of The Soloist with dinner and blanketmaking: 6-8pm, Health Science Campus, location TBD
 November 19th - Sandwich-making with the Homeless Ministry and
delivery to Skid Row: 6-7pm, Caruso Catholic Center (intersection of
32nd and Hoover)
 November 23rd - HomeWalk 5K, run/walk to benefit the Homeless:
Registration begins at 7am, race begins at 9am, Exposition Park. Sign up
to run with USC at http://bit.ly/JoinUSC or register with the Volunteer
Center for the November Friends and Neighbors Service Day.
 November 26th - Sandwich-making with the Homeless Ministry and
delivery to Skid Row: 6-7pm, Caruso Catholic Center (intersection of
32nd and Hoover)
 ALL MONTH LONG - Food drive: Deliver canned and packaged foods to
the GSG office in TCC 224 or to any Homelessness and Hunger
Awareness Event
Happy Hour at Barbara’s
When: Thursday, November 7th, 2013 from 5:00-7:00PM
Where: Barbara's at the Brewery (620 Moulton Ave. #110 Los Angeles CA 90031)
Event Details: Come relax, eat, and drink with your fellow HSC graduate students
at Barbara's for happy hour! $2 off all draft and $4 off all well drinks between 56pm! GSG will provide a $5 voucher per person to go towards an appetizer or
entree.
Movie Night at LA Live: November 8, 2013
Join GSG for a Movie Night at LA Live. LA Live is metro accessible so there is no
need to drive. Just hop on the expo towards downtown and get off at LA
Live. Sign up for tickets will begin on November 4, 2013 at 10 a.m. There is a two
person limit on tickets.
GSG Homecoming Week Happy Hour: November

Some food and beverages and all around good conversation as we show our
Graduate Student Spirit for Homecoming Week. Look out for more details
forthcoming as to location.
GSG Winter Formal: November 14!
GSG is taking you to the Gatsby Era with this year's Winter Formal! The Radisson
is lending us there grand ball room to host our Winter Formal this year! There will
be DJ so you can show off your moves. If you don't want to dance, don't fret. We
have you covered too! There will also be casino games to keep you entertained.
Not a card shark, there will also be food and plenty of drink to go around at the
cash bar! Rumor has it that there will also be a photo booth and some prize given
aways too so save the date and get to planning because you never want to miss a
Gatsby Party, old sport!
Tickets will be $10. Tickets will be available on November 1.

Alliance Ethnic-Style Dinner
Event: "Ethnic Style Dinner"
When: Thursday, November 14, 2013 at 5:00 PM
Where: Green Lawn next to the Zilka Building
Event Details: PTMLA will be holding this event in hopes of raising funds for our
students to go to several mission trips abroad throughout the year. Tickets will be
$7 in advance, $10 the day of. There will be a wide variety of food from different
parts of the world. If interested in making a purchase, please

Annual GSG Thanksgiving Dinner at HSC!
When: Wednesday, November 20th, 2013 at 6:00PM
Where: Seaver Cafeteria on the Health Science Campus
Event Details: Stuff your bellies at the annual Thanksgiving feast! Everybody is
invited so come share a meal and meet your fellow graduate and professional
students! We'll be giving away raffle prizes and more!
Farmers Market In McCarthy Quad
Every Wednesday
There is a farmers market in McCarthy Quad every Wednesday from 11-3. Come
out for hot lunch, fresh produce, sorbet in a frozen fruit bowl, and more!

We Run the City 5K: UCLA v. USC!
When: Sunday, November 24th at 9:00AM
Where: Exposition Park near USC Main Campus
Event Details: “We Run the City is an annual 5K rivalry run that supports the
athletes of Special Olympics Southern California. Official timing will be carried out
for this race. Students, alumni, and fans of USC and UCLA will compete for
bragging rights and the We Run the City trophy.
GSG Presents - Experience LA! Peter and the
Starcatcher at the Ahmanson Theater
When: Thursday, December 5th, 2013 at 8:00PM
Where: Ahmanson Theater at the LA Music Center
Event Details: Peter and the Starcatcher is the most hilarious-filled evening of
madcap fun! In this 5 time Tony Award winning play, a dozen brilliant actors play

Free Cookies and Coffee with GSG President

Every Tuesday from 12-1pm, enjoy cookies and coffee with the GSG President in
Tudor Campus Center 224.
