Faculty of Medical Psychotherapy SAVE THE DATE The RCPsych Trainee-Trainer Medical Psychotherapy Summer Conference, Leeds Venue: NSCAP, Leeds, on Friday, 11 July 2014. THEME: IDENTITY: SAME YET DIFFERENT We are pleased to announce the Trainee-Trainer Summer Conference in Medical Psychotherapy, which will be held in the Northern School of Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy, Leeds on 11 July, 2014. This is a one-day conference open to trainees and trainers interested/involved in medical psychotherapy, as well as other medical faculties that may find the work of medical psychotherapy relevant to their practice. We would encourage trainees to use this opportunity to invite your trainers to attend the day with you. We will use Psychoanalytic thinking to explore the identity of a Medical Psychotherapist with reference to sexuality, language/culture, gender/pregnancy. The conference theme is 'same yet different’, looking at how the experience of difference shapes the identity of the therapist. The programme hopes to combine a morning session on rich and varied experiences of senior medical psychotherapists with clinical/case presentations in the afternoon on senior trainee experiences. This is a great opportunity to meet trainees and trainers nationally and engage in a lively debate about how therapist identity influences clinical work. The detailed programme will be posted on the RCPsych website in the ‘events’ section shortly, with details regarding application.
