Our merit badge day will provide classes for merit badges and is a unique opportunity for
Scouts to earn badges which might be difficult, if not impossible, to complete on their own
in their community. We appreciate the considerable time of the volunteer merit badge
counselors that will be serving as instructors.

MERIT BADGE INSTRUCTORS
Top-notch merit badge counselors/instructors are critically important to the success of this Merit Badge
Lock-in program. We are blessed with an incredible array of talented/skilled/well-educated people that
have volunteered their time to this program. Instructors’ contact information, should any Scouts in their
classes have a need to follow up with them afterwards, will be provided to leaders at registration.
EVENT REGISTRATION
Pre-registration ends Thursday, March 14, 2013. Because a head count is required by the catering service,
any registrations after March 14th will increase $5.00 per youth or adult. Late registration will not guarantee
lunch.
Youth and adult participants will be required to register at http://sagamore.camp-master.com.

taken at the beginning of every class. It will be the Scout’s responsibility to affirm his presence in class.
MEALS
The cost of lunch is included in your registration fee. Late registration does not guarantee a lunch.
COURSE AVAILABILITY
Scouts per Class: If there is a higher demand for a particular subject, we will try to accommodate more
students with additional counselors or increased class sizes. However, if you really want to take a class,
register EARLY, since registrations will be accepted on a “first-come, first-served” basis and all classes have
limits.
BLUE CARDS WILL BE USED
Fill out the basic information needed on the blue card before attending any class sessions. Please do not
ask the merit badge counselor to fill out basic information. Please help your Scouts have the blue card
ready to go before class time. Scouts are responsible for completing and bringing pre-requisite work for
review by the instructors. Blue cards will be available at registration or you may have one filled out from
your home troop.
PRE-REQUISITES
Each Scout is expected to do any required pre-requisites for a merit badge so that the time spent during
each class session can be as productive as possible. Please refer to the Merit Badge Requirement Prerequisites listed below.
SCOUTS SHOULD READ their merit badge pamphlets and be familiar with the subject. All merit badge
counselors are Merit Badge Counselor and Youth Protection trained and registered with the BSA. Each one
has been instructed to complete instruction as necessary to meet the requirements of their respective
merit badge subjects as they are written, no more or less will be required. Instructors may share additional
information beyond the requirements but cannot make the additional information required knowledge. If
a Scout is not able to fully complete the requirements of a Merit Badge, he will need to follow up with his
troop advancement chairman to finish those requirements. Credit will be given for all work completed
during the event, even if it is for a partial merit badge.
