LOS ANGELES COUNTY POP WARNER
2015 SCHOLASTIC ELIGIBILITY & LITTLE SCHOLARS PROGRAM
SCHOLASTIC ELIGIBILITY
All players with the exception of TINY MITES or FLAG CUBS must submit at a
minimum a COPY of the LAST report card for the 2014/2015 school year no later than
July 1. Online transcripts are also acceptable. Report cards/transcripts MUST be legible
and contain the following info: School year, School Name, Student name, the grades.
For Tiny Mites/Flag the LeagueOne (L1) input will be 70% and PROOF = OTHER and
WAIVER –no.
Players must have a GPA of 2.0 or 70% to be eligible to play.
Calculation is done ONLY with the GPA Calculator provided (EXCEL 2007 or above
needed to run this program). EFFORT GRADES cannot be used to calculate GPA- Art
and Music are sometimes given EFFORT grades but report card must clearly state it is an
effort grade. If it does not then it will be calculcated in HUMANITIES portion of GPA
calculation sheet.
Foreign Languages are to be included under Language Arts. PE, Technology, Health are
to be calculated in the SCIENCE area, NOT ELECTIVES as in the past.
PE grade is NOW ALSO used for LITTLE SCHOLARS.
Determine the point system of the school being calculated. For examples- A to F grades
with plus and minus is the 12 point tab. Determine HOW many grades are used and then
use a corresponding point system. Note it does not matter if your grade scale matches
exactly the grades in the calculator scale- it is the NUMBER of grades used that is
important. For example- a school who uses 1 through 4 as a grade can use ANY of the 4
point scales in the calculator program. GO TO THAT TAB-enter info at the top- Name,
Association, Team Level. Enter the grade(s), the program will calculate it for you. Print
out the sheet and it goes in the book on top of the report card- sleeve 4.
GPA will be entered as a percentage ONLY- using full decimals (76.4 for example).
Select REPORT CARD from PROOF drop down menu in L1.
HOME- SCHOOL REPORT CARD POLICY
A child who is home schooled is eligible for participation if actual grades are provided by
a governing body that meets the national requirement of 2.0/70% GPA. If no governing
body is reported to, a written statement from an authorized person or legal
parent/guardian of the home school shall be acceptable. The letter verifying scholastic
eligibility must include: Participant’s name, the school year, final grade for each subject,
GPA. GPA is 65% and PROOF is other for L1. The HOME SCHOOL FORM IS ALSO
needed.
PLAYERS WHO DO NOT SUBMIT A REPORT CARD BY AUGUST 10
A Scholastic Eligibility Form must be completed and signed by Head Coach, Player and
Parent. The player must submit proof of school enrollment no later than September 10.
Failure to do so will result in removal from the roster. Acceptable proofs are:

Scholastic eligibility form and replace it with the GPA Sheet
- Letter from school stating they are now attending school*
- Class schedule clearly marked for the 2015/2016 school year*
- 1st quarter report card for 2015/2016 school year if available*
*L1 status is 59% and PROOF = “other” WAIVER = ‘yes”
PLAYERS WHO DO NOT MEET THE 70% MINIMUM GPA
If you calculate the GPA with the final report card grades only and player does not
make the 70%, then ask for a full year report card and calculate it again using all
the semesters etc.
If the final calculation using the entire year is STILL below 70% then player must
complete the 2014 Scholastic Eligibility Form no later than August 10. This form is to be
signed by the Parent, the Head Coach and the Player and placed in the book sleeve 4 on
top of report card (side 2) along with GPA calculation sheet (side 1)
A copy of the Scholastic Eligibility is to be given to the parent and to the LAC Director
of Certification (LACDC).
For L1enter 59% for all players who do not meet eligibility and PROOF will be “other”.
Also select YES for WAIVER drop down menu in L1. DO NOT USE THE ACTUAL
GPA.
ALL INFORMATION MUST BE KEPT CONFIDENTIAL.
THESE PLAYERS must now get a progress report by date due or they can no longer
continue to play in any future games (regular, playoffs, Regionals or Bowl games)
Team/Squad Managers are to remind parents that they need to get a progress report.
Players will have to bring a progress report signed by a school administrator (for homeschooled, an accredited governing body) that shows progress in at least 51% of their
classes. The Progress Report must be dated between September 10 and October 8th and
must be submitted by October 10 to the LACDC for review, signature and approval.
Head Coach must also initial it. LACDC will also stamp the box if approved.
NOTE-IF THE SCHOOL WILL BE GIVING OUT THEIR FORMAL PROGRESS
REVIEWS BETWEEN Sept 10 AND OCT 8, THEN THE PLAYER CAN WAIT AND
SUBMIT A COPY OF THAT. HOWEVER NO DOCUMENTS CAN BE SUBMITTED
AFTER OCT 10.
