The Alpha Upsilon Sigma Chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority,
Inc. became a graduate chapter in 1941, in East Saint Louis,
Illinois. The chapter annually sponsors activities and
programming to educate, motivate, and enhance the quality of
life of our youth. We are encouraged through support of the
community in our fundraising efforts and have raised thousands
of dollars in scholarship monies to assist our metropolitan youth
in their educational advancement. We continue to strive for
excellence in the community through our motto:

Fundraising
Activities
The Fairyland Coronation is a formal
presentation of elementary girls from the
ages of 6 – 12. This presentation is
considered an opportunity for children to
interact in a formal setting and display
talents of dance, oral communication, and
beauty. Each year the organization uses
this program as an opportunity to teach
children basic etiquette and social skill
building.
This is the fundraising event for our
Annual Scholarship Fund. For the past 70
years the chapter has provided at
minimum 2- four year scholarships to
deserving college bound students. The
fundraising activities will be limited to the
collection of Ads for the Souvenir Journal.
There will be a minimum set of ads that
must be sold in order for your daughter to
participate in the coronation
Each child will participate in weekly
activities including dancing practices,
speech/communication sessions, and
group activities.
Souvenir Journal
Fairyland Theme
This year’s theme will be: Sugar Plum
Fairies in the Enchanted Kingdom of
Sweets
This theme will give children the
opportunity to use their imagination in
creating the character roles of princesses
and royal knights. This imaginative setting
sets the tone for the regal event.
The souvenir journal will be designed to
compose all advertisements and words of
love for each princess. Each princess will
be responsible for a minimum of 4 pages.
The solicitation of ads can be presented to
family, friends, local businesses, and
activities/organizations in which you
belong. We will provide template
information to present to your potential
donors to ensure funds are being solicited
and collected for a non-profit purpose.
Fees
Each child is expected to pay a nonrefundable fee to participate in the
coronation. This fee ensures your child will
participate in all activities. These fees
would cover additional expenses
necessary to provide a quality and unique
experience for each participant.
