FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
EMBLEMATIC RESIDENTIAL BUILDING TO BE BUILT IN MONTREAL
An investment of $175M, the Tour des Canadiens to revolutionize urban condominium design by
integrating sports and entertainment
MONTREAL – July 16, 2012 – Share the same home address as the Habs! This incredible opportunity is
being made possible by The Cadillac Fairview Corporation Limited, Canderel, the Fonds immobilier de
solidarité FTQ and the Club de hockey Canadien consortium, who have partnered to build the ultimate
residential address in the city: the Tour des Canadiens.
The 48-story building, designed by architects Cardinal Hardy and Martin Marcotte/Beinhaker, will be
located at Centennial Place, at the corner of rue de la Montagne and l’Avenue des Canadiens, in the
heart of downtown Montreal. The Tour des Canadiens’ unique design will reflect the topography of its
location. Straddling the natural ridge between the mountain and the river, the Tour des Canadiens will
become Montreal’s tallest residential building and an unmistakable visual landmark. The building will
stand on an elevated platform that will include indoor parking, and in which a lightbox featuring
Montreal and its lifestyle will be encased. Moreover, the Tour des Canadiens will be the only residential
building to offer direct covered access to Montreal’s largest intermodal transit hub and downtown’s
sprawling underground city.
“The development of a real estate project that bears the legendary Montreal Canadiens trademark
represents a once in a lifetime opportunity,” stated Salvatore Iacono, Senior Vice President,
Development and Portfolio Management, Eastern Canada, The Cadillac Fairview Corporation Limited.
“This is the most exciting project we have ever worked on,” he added.
Geoff Molson, Owner, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Club de hockey Canadien is excited
about the prospect of bringing to life the Montreal Canadiens trademark through an address that will
provide its residents privileged access to the Bell Centre, so that they are truly at the heart of the action.
“The Tour des Canadiens will offer sports and entertainment facilities that live up to the vision behind
the design, including a sports bar which will provide its clients with a unique and unparalleled
experience. Today’s announcement is the beginning of a new chapter in the history of the Montreal
Canadiens. I am extremely pleased to see this opportunity come to fruition and impatient to see the
Tour des Canadiens come to life,” said Mr. Molson.
Moreover, Mr. Molson indicated that the hockey legends statues as well as the bricks purchased by fans
to commemorate the Montreal Canadiens centennial will be removed from Centennial Place and
carefully stored elsewhere in order to ensure their integrity and protect them for the duration of the
construction period. These valuable testimonials to the Canadiens’ centennial will once again be
accessible to the public at the end of construction within the environs of the new building.
Daniel Peritz, Senior Vice President at Canderel, added: “The Tour des Canadiens is much more than just
a prestigious address. It embodies a unique concept in which sports and entertainment are an integral
part of everyday life. It will be the only residential address to provide direct access to the Bell Centre and
its prestigious sports events, as well as to the best in international entertainment and shows. Our condo
purchasers can buy with confidence given the exceptional reputation of the development team.”
Yvon Bolduc, CEO of the Fonds de solidarité FTQ is proud that its real estate arm Fonds immobilier de
solidarité FTQ participates in this unprecedented project that not only speaks to the vitality of the city’s
real estate sector but will also create 1330 jobs, according to the Quebec Institute of Statistics.“ Our
participation in the development of what promises to be one of the most interesting residential
buildings in Montreal was only natural, considering the existing ties between the Fonds de solidarité FTQ
and the Montreal Canadiens,” he said.
Huma Design is responsible for the interior design of the Tour des Canadiens’ 534 condominium
apartments and extensive common spaces, whose price starts at about $250,000. Through a European
approach to design, the units will be spacious and open, regardless of the chosen square footage. In
addition, all residential units will have an incredible view over the heart of Montreal, since suites will
start on the 15th floor. Whether they choose a one- or two-bedroom condo or a penthouse-type space,
condo owners at the Tour des Canadiens will be able to take full advantage of the excitement of living in
downtown Montreal. They will also benefit from an optimal location that provides direct access to the
Bell Centre, the metro, trains and underground Montreal, while some of the city’s best restaurants are
just a few steps away.
